Traditionally, it is considered that the name determines the destiny of a person. Therefore, the moment of naming is one of the fundamental in the life of every person. Old-Slavonic names, like any others, have their own history and traditions.

One of these features is that at the time of the birth of the child they named a name that was unacceptably unattractive, for example Nekras, Kriv, etc. It was believed that this will save the child from bad influence and the negative impact of evil spirits and other people.

When the child was seven years old, the name given at birth was changed to the so-called adult. By that time, the main personal qualities and traits of character had to be formed. The Old Slavonic names, which the children called children after reaching this age, kept a lot of positive qualities to attract good luck to young people. In addition, the nickname contained some farewell to the future life, therefore parents tried to choose beautiful and euphonious names.

The most common Old Slavonic names of boys are Belogor, Boguslav, Vladimir, Gleb, Zhivko, Mecheslav and others. Each of them is unique, which means that the person who was named by that name will proudly wear it.

The modern world does not stand still, borrowings from other languages and nationalities are increasingly occurring. However, we should not forget that the Old Slavonic names will be able to emphasize not only the individuality of the child, but also to note the patriotism of his parents and their respectful attitude to their ancestors. Nevertheless, do not seek to please relatives, wanting to name the baby in honor of his grandparents, or someone else from relatives. It must be remembered that the probability that the child will be given the fate of that person is quite large.

Old Slavonic names (female for example) have many different meanings. After the arrival of Christianity in the territory of Russia, the name of the apprentice began to be produced in accordance with the new church calendar.

It is believed that the month of birth of the little girl has a great influence on the choice of the most suitable name. For example, if a girl was born in winter, her name should be gentle and warming to soften the character of the "snow queen". The light-mindedness of those born in the spring should be compensated by a strict or rigid name. But "summer" girls are often proud, persevering and active. In turn, those who were fortunate enough to be born in the autumn season are convinced realists who independently study the world around them.

The Old Slavonic names are quite specific and special, which means that they should be used only if you are sure that you will be able to teach your child proudly to bear their name. For this, the child must find a place in society with courage and confidence.

However, if you could not choose a suitable name that you would like so much to name your child, the laws of many countries allow young parents to come up with it themselves. But a number of requirements are imposed on such a name.
