Banana tree azimina - tear off bananas without getting up from the couch

Many people are interested in what kind of tree bananas grow on. It turns out that the favorite food of Russian residents can grow not only in hot African countries, but also in regions with a relatively cold climate. Such a plant is azimine (three-plastics annona). This is a banana tree, which can be grown in a tub at home, as well as in the open ground in the climate of the Crimea or the Caucasus. This plant is sometimes called a Mexican banana for the elongated shape of the fruit.

Banana tree of this species is not only a decorative and fruit plant, but also a medicinal plant - its leaves and seeds are actively used for medical purposes.

The homeland of the azimine is the countries located in Central and South America. Today, the Mexican banana has spread in France, Spain and Italy. And the plant was imported to Russia in the last century. Its advantage is high frost resistance. Banana can tolerate temperatures to minus thirty degrees, and the buds of flowers that swell in early April are not at all afraid of spring frosts.

Mexican banana tree under favorable conditions develops up to several meters, at home it reaches ten meters. However, if necessary, easily deforms and takes dwarf forms.

This ornamental plant has a wide pyramidal crown and a smooth crust, and large leaves reach 10 cm wide and 30 cm long. When growing azimine in the garden or on the balcony, it should be borne in mind that in strong winds, large leaves of the plant can be damaged.

The indoor banana tree has large monoecious red-violet flowers, up to 4 cm in diameter, the corolla of which consists of six petals, and the calyx is made up of three leaves. Azimin flowering begins in the spring before the leaves unfold and lasts for three weeks. This plant is cross-pollinated, therefore at home requires artificial pollination with cotton wool or a soft brush.

Fruits reach twelve centimeters in length and in diameter grow up to five centimeters. They gather in branches consisting of eight and more fruits. Rich in sucrose and fructose, the pulp of the banana is characterized by a sweet tender taste and a strawberry-pineapple flavor. The fruits of the azimine consist of the most important microelements for the human body, also contained in persimmon and tropical bananas. Banana wood room has pulp whitish-yellow color, which feels like butter to the touch. If the correct technique of cultivation is observed, the culture can give from 25 kg of fruit from one tree.

Yellowing and falling leaves begins in the middle of autumn, and new ones grow in late spring after flowering. The kidneys appear in the sinuses left over from the leaves of past years. The flowers of the azimine grow a few pistils, so that up to nine fruits can be produced. Pollination is performed when the pollen becomes loose and acquires a brownish hue, and the ends of the pistils are sticky and greenish-glossy. For cross-pollination, two plants are required. The fruit of the plant ripens within a month.

Banana tree loves light, but for the first two years will require light shading. The adult plant prefers sunlight. The seedlings develop at a slow rate, but with an increase in the light period to sixteen hours a tree can grow up to one and a half meters in three months.

Azimine is regularly watered from spring to autumn, the soil cover must be moist all the time, but stagnant water is not allowed.

Cultivated from good varietal seeds, a banana tree under favorable conditions begins to bear fruit after 4 years. Seeds germinate eight weeks after planting. The grafted plant can begin flowering in two years, but it is very difficult to do this.
