There is no more proven remedy for colds than ruby raspberry jam. Pleasant to taste, it will help with temperature, cough, chills, and just become a delicious addition to the evening tea drinking. Let's take a closer look at such a familiar plant as raspberry. Care, rules of planting and ways to fight disease can master even a budding gardener.

In order to have a good harvest of berries every year, it is necessary to choose several different varieties, giving preference to zoned ones. There are three main varieties of this shrub. These include red raspberries, which are divided into European red and American bristly, black raspberry and purple. Each of these species can be divided into numerous groups and subspecies. Black and purple raspberries are most often used for breeding. Red raspberries are the progenitor of most of the economic varieties. Purchase of seedlings should be made in nurseries "Zelenoch", located a short distance from your site.

Once you have chosen the right grade, you need to determine a convenient place for planting. You should choose a well drained sunny area with fertile soil and natural protection from frost and strong wind. Since this shrubbery grows rapidly, the landing site must be protected. To do this, dig a trench depth of fifty centimeters and cover the side walls with an old film, roofing material or we protect with slate pieces.

At the bottom we fall asleep drainage. Worth excellent construction debris, broken brick or crushed stone. Cover the top with old newspapers and sheets of cardboard, and then fill the ditch with fertile soil. Before planting, soak the roots of the seedlings in a weak solution of manganese for 2-3 hours. The upper part is cut off, leaving the height of the twigs about thirty centimeters. Prepared in this way, the seedlings will perfectly acclimatize and give a lush raspberry, the care of which in the first two years will be minimal.

Plant the seedlings in ditches, trying not to deeply bury the root collar. After that, we water abundantly and mulch the area with peat, straw, cut grass, rotted sawdust or crushed bark. Landing should be carried out on a warm September day. Although this shrub is often called "unpretentious raspberry", care of it is necessary. Let's look at the main steps:

  • After the complete descent of the snow cover, we remove the special pins that kept the bushes near the ground. We cut out old withered shoots, and cut young ones to a height of about one and a half meters. We inspect the bark and kidneys, removing pests. We remove the fallen leaves and loosen the soil. We tie the shoots to the trellis.
  • In the summer, we monitor the moisture of the soil. We spend watering on especially hot days. Several times a season we feed manure or green fertilizer. We thin out the plantings, maintaining good ventilation of each row. At the time of flowering, spray bushes with the drug "Ovary". This will help to increase the crop twice. If necessary, add a layer of mulch. We are fighting pests and diseases. We harvest and harvest for the winter.
  • In the autumn period, we prepare a site for planting new varieties. After harvesting the last crop we bend the seedlings to the ground and fasten them with studs.
  • In winter, we shovel the maximum amount of snow to the berry, covering them with plants.

Perform these simple actions, then you will always have a tasty and juicy raspberry on the site. Care is very simple and does not require deep knowledge. Carrying out in time every stage, you can prevent the appearance of pests and mass planting diseases. Let's look at the raspberry diseases that are most common in the garden areas.

  • Stem gall midi. It can be recognized by the appearance on the stems of small round blisters. Damaged shoots must be cut and burned. Do not put such stems in the compost heap. This will result in the defeat of all shrubs on the site.
  • Worm berries. The presence of damaged fruit indicates that your visit was visited by a raspberry beetle. Spray the seedlings with any preparation to fight insects or infusion of onion husks. In autumn, we remove all the leaves from under the bushes and close the ground with sheets of cardboard.
  • Purple and white spotting. The appearance on the stems, berries and leaves of raspberry stains of a characteristic shade and the subsequent drying of plants is caused by infection of plantings with spores of the fungus. After harvesting, it is necessary to cut off all seedlings at the ground level and burn them. Then add phosphorus-potassium fertilizer to the soil. Avoid watering with cold water and monitor good ventilation between the rows.
