Apple tree "glory to the winners": a description of the variety, care, photo

A fruit garden can not be imagined without several varieties of apple trees that will please gardeners with large yields, from the middle of summer to late autumn. The most popular apple trees are those that are able to give a harvest during the second half of summer and autumn. It is to such sortotypes that the apple tree belongs to the "glory to the winners", the description of which is set forth in this article.

Origin of variety

This variety was bred at a garden and vegetable test station in Mlievo, which today bears the name of the Institute of Pomology named after Simirenko. Apple tree "glory to the winners" was created in the 30-ies of the last century by crossing two varieties: "papirovka" and "mackintosh." Initially, the resulting apple trees were used in gardens, whose activities were aimed at the industrial production of apples in large quantities. Zoning of the variety was carried out practically throughout the European territory of the Soviet Union, including the North Caucasus and Ukraine.

Description of the tree: the structure of the crown and branches

The apple tree "glory to the winners" is attributed to vigorous trees, as its crown has a very powerful crown, which at the initial stage of plant development has a wide-pyramidal shape, and over the years becomes broadly oval or round. The main, skeletal branches of the crown extend from the trunk at an acute angle, their ends are directed upwards. In the upper tiers, the angle between the trunk and the base of the branches is more acute than in the lower ones. The apple tree "glory to the winners" is very intensively engraved, while the fruit formations are located on the ring and spears, very rarely on fruit twigs.

The bark on the trunk of young seedlings is reddish-brown, shiny, and in adult trees it acquires a rich brown color. The branches are also covered with brown bark. Young shoots are even, smooth, with a frequent arrangement of small-sized lentils.

Consider the appearance of leaves and flowers of the "glory to the winners." The apple tree, the photo of which can be seen further, has a very attractive appearance, especially during the blossoming period. This is due to the fact that the leaf of the plant is very brightly colored. Light green shade often gives off yellow, thanks to which, even with a cloudy sky, the apple tree seems illuminated by the sun. The leaves of this variety are rounded or slightly oval, with small double notches along the edge of the plate. The concavity of the leaf blade is weak, the surface is finely wrinkled.

Blooming apple tree "glory to the winners" in the middle of spring. Buds on the plant have a red color, and after blossoming, the flowers turn out to be pink. The shape of the blossoming flower most resembles a saucer, the middle of which looks very beautiful due to the long stems stained at the base in bright red color. The pestle is absent, their height coincides with the location of the anthers.

Features of pollination, description of fruits

Apple tree "glory to the winners", the description of which is set out above, refers to fully self-fertile varieties. This means that to successfully create fruit, it must be adjacent to apple trees of other varieties: "chalk", "vadimovka", "Borovinka" or "Antonovka." With this neighborhood about 30% of flowers are pollinated. In the absence of pollinators, knotting reaches 8%, which is a very low indicator.

The pollen of the apple tree of the brand "glory to the winners" has low viability, and the number of "empty" flowers, that is, without pollen, can reach 48% of the total. All this may lead to the question: why is this variety considered high-yielding? The fact is that when pollination with other varieties yield from one tree is about 120-180 kg of high-quality fruit, which look very appetizing. Depending on the growing condition, apples have an oblong-round or slightly conical shape. The skin on the fruits is smooth, with a pronounced gloss.

During removable maturity, the color of apples is yellow-green, with a uniform bright blush and a barely noticeable bluish coating. The peel of the fruit is strewn with small light points. Seed chamber of apple fruits "glory to the winners" is large. Its cavities contain from 4 to 6 seeds of brown color. The fruit of this variety is sweet-sour, very juicy. The color of the pulp is from light cream to yellowish white. Apples of this variety can be consumed fresh, and also processed for juices, jams and even dried.

Features of care for apple trees

To apple tree "glory to the winners" annually gave excellent harvests, it is important to choose the right place for its planting. First, the tree must be constantly under the sun. Secondly, high productivity is observed only in those specimens that grow on soiled soils, that is, if there is a constant vegetation in the near-barrel circle. Thirdly, the apple tree of this variety, as mentioned above, is prone to strong branching, so gardeners should pay special attention to the formation of the crown and its regular thinning. In addition, it is important to constantly monitor the moisture level of the soil under the apple tree "glory to the winners", since the variety, despite its high winter hardiness, tolerates the drought very badly.
