Antibacterial drug 'Biseptol 480'

Being a combined antibacterial drug, Biseptol has a wide range of bactericidal effects. As a review of this medicine, I could offer my own. Once I even called him a panacea for all my troubles. Of course, this is not entirely true, but after a surgery for osteomyelitis of the spine, doctors recommended that I take biseptol (tablets) at the slightest hint of a cold or infection. I must admit that for more than 15 years there have been no repeated operations. Perhaps this drug played a role.

This is not surprising, since with many infectious and inflammatory pathologies, the drug "Biseptol 480" is prescribed. The instruction recommends its use in the following diseases:

  • Bronchitis, pneumonia, purulent pleurisy and other infectious diseases of the respiratory tract, including lung abscess.
  • Prostatitis, urethritis, pyelonephritis - infections of the genitourinary system.
  • Venereal diseases.
  • Infectious diseases of the digestive tract.
  • Infectious skin diseases, soft tissue infections: pyoderma, furunculosis and others.
  • Otitis, sinusitis.

Also the preparation "Biseptol 480" is effective in the treatment of other infections, inflammatory processes caused by microorganisms that are sensitive to the action of this drug. It is also used in the treatment of cholera, acute and chronic osteomyelitis. As already mentioned, the drug is combined, that is, consisting of several components. This sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim. The drug "Biseptol 480" in tablets is used as follows:

  • For children from two to five years of age, the dose is 480 mg per day - two (120 mg) tablets in the morning and in the evening.
  • For children under 12 years of age, "Biseptol 480" is prescribed at a rate of 960 mg per day. This is twice a day for four (120 mg) tablets or for one - 480 mg.
  • In pneumonia, the sulfamethoxazole content is taken into account in the calculation. For 1 kg of weight of the patient per day, 100 mg of substance is allowed, and the reception is divided into three times.
  • The daily dose for children over 12 years and adults is 1 g 920 mg (twice a day for 960 mg). If long-term therapy is required, twice daily 480 mg is prescribed.

The medicine should be taken after meals. To drink tablets you need water in small amounts. There should be equal intervals between doses. Usually this period is 12 hours. This means that if the morning dose of the medicine is taken at 8-00, the evening dose will be taken at 20-00. Accordingly, if the drug "Biseptol 480" is assigned to a three-time administration, the interval between doses is 6 hours. Then it will turn out, for example: 8 am - the first reception, 2 pm - the second reception and 8 pm - the third.

The effectiveness of drug treatment largely depends on the regularity and timeliness of its use. The course of therapy lasts up to two weeks. Dosage and treatment are prescribed individually. If the course exceeds five days, hematological control is performed. With changes in the blood picture, folic acid is prescribed.

My good feedback about Biseptol 480 does not mean that all readers should also treat any inflammatory processes with this medicine. I was appointed by the attending physician, who knows what microorganisms sepsis was caused, and then spine osteomyelitis.

Contraindications for biseptol:

  • Pronounced dysfunction of the liver and kidneys.
  • Any violations associated with the hematopoietic system.
  • Heavy pathology of the cardiovascular system.
  • Age to three months.
  • Hypersensitivity to the constituents of the preparation.

Also, biseptol is not prescribed for pregnancy.

An overdose of the drug is accompanied by a clouding of consciousness, nausea and vomiting. As a first aid, gastric lavage and abundant drinking are recommended. Of course, in such cases it is necessary to call an ambulance. When co-administration of biseptol with other drugs should consult a doctor.
