Allergies on the legs and hands: the causes, symptoms and characteristics of treatment

Most people are increasingly exposed to allergies. And this is not surprising. After all, in the modern world the number of allergens is rapidly increasing. The symptomatology of the disease can manifest throughout the body. But in some cases it covers only certain areas. Consider what can be triggered by an allergy on the legs or hands and how to fight with such pathology.

Short description

Any allergy occurs as a result of an abnormal susceptibility of the immune system to various provocators. As a result, the body produces not immunoglobulin, but antigens. They lead to the appearance of a high concentration of histamine and are a source of inflammatory mediators, which cause characteristic symptoms.

Allergies on the arms and legs have a cutaneous character. It can vary in the speed of manifestation. Sometimes the body immediately responds to the allergen (atopic dermatitis, urticaria). Signs of pathology can manifest themselves in a few minutes or a couple of hours after contact with a provocateur.

In other cases, a slow enough development of symptoms (contact dermatitis) is observed. Such an allergy on the feet will make itself felt in a day, and sometimes after a longer period.

Causes of appearance

Allergies on the arms and legs can occur under the influence of exogenous (external) factors and endogenous (internal) sources. Let us consider them in more detail.

External causes of allergy are:

  1. Mechanical effect. This is a certain load on the skin, in the form of friction, compression, prolonged vibration. For example, often an allergy on the legs appears as a result of wearing tight shoes or narrow trousers. During prolonged walking they cause skin irritation. On the covers there is an extremely unpleasant symptomatology of pathology.
  2. Contact with household chemicals, plants and other provocateurs.
  3. Wearing synthetic clothing that does not provide normal air access to the body.
  4. Subcooling, low temperatures.
  5. Insect bites, animal hair.
  6. Excessive exposure to sunlight.

Internal causes affect the body through the violation of metabolic processes, the circulatory system.

Endogenous sources of ailment are:

  1. Food allergens. They can provoke a rash on any part of the body.
  2. Certain pathologies. Allergic dermatitis can develop against a background of varicose veins, diabetes. With such pathologies, negative symptoms only appear on the legs.

Most often provoke attacks of an allergic reaction following factors:

  • Lack of therapy for major ailments;
  • Non-compliance with hygiene rules.

Types of allergies

Pathology on the skin of the hands and feet can be manifested following characteristic lesions:

  1. Hives. With this pathology, blisters of different sizes appear. Such symptoms are most often provoked by direct contact of this site with an external allergen.
  2. A rash. On the covers there are small red swellings. They can be of different shapes. In some cases, such a rash merges with each other. This is a fairly common allergy on the legs. Red spots, formed by merging a small rash, can reach impressive sizes. As a rule, such a kind of pathology appears after direct contact with the provocateur. The source of the rash can be the penetration of the allergen into the body with food or through the respiratory system.
  3. Dermatitis. On the skin inflammatory lesions of various nature are observed. Most often they arise as a result of prolonged exposure and high levels of allergen.
  4. Reaction to cold. If the body is highly sensitive to low temperatures, then under the influence of negative factors on the skin appear red spots.
  5. Allergy to fungus. Most often, the affected fingers and feet.

Allergy is a chronic disease. But it is exacerbated only by the provocateurs.

Symptoms on legs

Allergy on the legs in adults often occurs in the following places:

  • On the hips;
  • Feet;
  • Shins.

After direct contact with the causative agent of the disease, this disease will make itself felt, usually within an hour.

The development of an allergic reaction is initially indicated by the following symptoms:

  • On the skin there are reddened areas;
  • The covers become dry;
  • The dermis begins to peel off;
  • This can all be accompanied by severe itching.

If you ignore the initial symptoms, other signs of a malaise will soon appear. It will be much more difficult to get rid of them.

The next stage of development is characterized by such manifestations:

  1. Spots. They can be point, relief, towering. Concerning color and shade, it is difficult to say. The spots can be both bright red and pale pink. It depends on how the body reacts to the allergen.
  2. Pimples. Often, the allergy to the skin of the legs manifests itself in the form of small rashes. Pimples can fill with purulent contents. In the future, on the spot of such manifestations, crusts are formed.
  3. Edema. Sometimes this is the way the allergy is manifested. Some people believe that puffiness arose after a long walk. But this is a characteristic symptom of allergy. Swelling manifests itself as a dense swelling of certain areas. As a rule, it is completely painless.
  4. Itching. This is one of the characteristic signs of an allergy. It causes a person painful discomfort. This sign is often manifested long before the appearance of the rash. Itching can be chronic or acute. He is able to localize in a certain area or cover almost the entire body.

Symptoms of hand allergies

The symptoms that manifest the disease on the upper limbs are similar to those described above.

Pathology on the hands, as well as allergy on the legs, is characterized by such symptomatology:

  • Redness of the veil;
  • Burning, itching;
  • Peeling, dryness;
  • Rashes: papules, vesicles, blisters;
  • Swelling.

Sometimes such manifestations are accompanied by common signs of ailment:

  • Redness of the eyes, tear;
  • chills;
  • Disorders in the digestive tract: vomiting, diarrhea;
  • Pallor of the skin ;
  • dry cough;
  • nasal congestion;
  • sore throat;
  • Pressure reduction;
  • temperature increase;
  • Dizziness;
  • Puffiness of eyelids, face.

Child allergy

Babies are also not immune from unpleasant symptoms. Allergies on the legs of a child or hands can manifest as a result of many reasons.

The most common sources are:

  1. A new product that was introduced into the diet.
  2. Clothing made of poor-quality fabric.
  3. Powder, by means of which children's clothes were washed.

In children, the allergy is expressed as:

  • Red spots that can merge with each other.
  • Itching (babies become whiny, irritable, they have a disturbed sleep).

Helping a child

The main thing is not to panic. Calmly assess the situation and do not self-medicate. Address to the pediatrist. If the child has fever, the rash spreads through the body, call an ambulance.

While specialists arrive, parents can do the following:

  1. If you know what caused a negative reaction, then immediately limit contact with the allergen. If the symptomatology is provoked by a contact (clothing, animal hair, household chemicals), then immediately take off your clothes and wash the baby well with baby soap.
  2. In case of ingestion of an allergen into the body, it is necessary to give the sorbent a crumb. It absorbs a part of the allergen, thereby reducing its concentration. Such sorbents are suitable for children: Smecta, Atoxil, White Coal, Polysorb, Enterosgel.
  3. A child needs a lot of fluids. It is best to give black tea or water.
  4. Keep the room at a normal temperature (about 22-23 C). This will protect you from excessive sweating.
  5. If the allergy is provoked by a foodstuff, it is quite probable, that at a crumb there will be a constipation. This is a very dangerous condition for this pathology. After all, allergens, along with toxins, are perfectly absorbed into the blood. For constipation, it is recommended to give one of the following drugs: "Dufalac", "Normase", "Normolact".
  6. Antiallergic can be given to the baby only 30 minutes after the sorbent. Effective means are: Zirtek, Erius, Zodak, Fenistil. It is best to wait with these medications and wait for the pediatrician's advice.

Treatment of pathology in adults by hormonal means

If the allergy on the leg itches and constantly brings discomfort, then ointments that have antihistamine and anti-inflammatory effect will bring significant help. Of course, such medication should be prescribed by a doctor. Hormonal ointments are prescribed only in case of severe exacerbations.

Excellent means are:

  • "Triamcinolone."
  • Fluticasone.
  • Dexamethasone.
  • Hydrocortisone.
  • "Methylprednisolone."
  • Advantan.
  • Elokom.

Non-hormonal ointments

Such funds are considered to be more sparing therapy.

In the fight against the disease the following ointments are claimed:

  1. Antiseptics. Effective are the preparations: "Dioxydin", "Bepanten", furatsilinovaya and dermatol ointment.
  2. Medicines-antibiotics. Drugs can be prescribed: Levomecol, Erythromycin.
  3. Antihistamines. Benefits will be brought: "Ichthyol ointment", "Fenistil-gel", "Tsindol", zinc ointment, "Elidel".
  4. Regenerating medicines. Excellent provide regeneration of tissues and have a healing effect of such drugs: methyluracil and solcoseryl ointment. Benefit will bring drugs: "Actovegin", "Bepanten."
  5. Mitigating medications. Therapies can include medications: "Videestim", "Keratolan".

Preparations for internal use

It is best that the doctor prescribes medicines. The doctor is able to adequately assess at what stage the allergy is taking place.

Rashes on the feet, red spots, itching are external manifestations, which are effectively eliminated with the help of local preparations. Provided that contact with the provocateur is excluded. But if such symptomatology does not pass, then the doctor will recommend medications for internal use.

Therapy may include drugs:

  • Suprastin, Diazolin, Tavegil, Dimedrol, Fenistil.
  • "Loratadin", "Claridol", "Zirtek".
  • "Zodak", "Astemizol", "Treksil", "Akrivastin".

These medications have some contraindications. Therefore, it is undesirable to take them without consulting a doctor.
