A new website is able to know exactly what and when you downloaded via torrents

Torrents - the practice of downloading files in parts from several users - has long been regarded as anonymous way of free access to data, or, if you like, theft. Many of us do this, or at least know someone who still uses torrents. It's pretty popular. Of course, because no one knows what you are downloading from torrents, is not it?

And here not. I Know What You Download (IKWYD) is a new website that claims to be able to track your online activities, such as download history from torrents. It seems that this site is able to reveal the entire history of using torrents by each particular Internet user.

Virtual "fingerprints"

Is it possible? First of all, if you do not already know, each device connected to the Internet has its own IP address. This digital sign indicates not only what device is connected to the Internet and who owns it, but also precisely determines your specific location. This is something like a unique virtual fingerprint.

Your IP address is difficult to hide. If you do not use any form of anonymous browsing, or perhaps some type of VPN server designed specifically to hide your geographic location, your IP address may be accessible to other people.

How the site works

IKWYD defines this IP address and uses it to search the Internet download history from the torrents. With this method, you can also see that other people downloaded from torrents, which you know, for example, if you know their IP address.

Remember, downloading from torrents means that you connect to several of them at the same time. You are constantly exchanging data, because many IP addresses are involved every time something is downloaded or downloaded. This relatively simple site shows you that such a connection can easily betray you if someone wants to find out what you are doing on the Internet.

The site also has a feature that allows people to send harmless at first glance to friends. If the user clicks on it, he activates the tracer on the site, which will allow him (and you too) to keep track of future downloads through the torrent. It's very mean, really.

Remember about safety

Who developed the site and what are the goals and motivations of IKWYD, in fact, no one knows. The first language of IKWYD, apparently, is English, although there is a variant of Russian. This suggests that creators can be representatives of countries speaking these languages.

We recommend that you take care until everything clears up. In any case, this is an extra reminder that your actions on the Internet are very difficult to remove. This is especially true of information collected by large Internet organizations, such as Google or Facebook, so stay tuned, dear readers.
