9 parts of the body, the importance of which we underestimate

Our body is a very complex mechanism in which each individual organ plays an important role. Everyone knows how necessary are the kidneys, stomach, heart, arteries and veins, but here are nine parts of the body, the importance of which is often ignored and underestimated.

1. Tragus and antigougus

These small parts of your ears are very important for the body. The function of the tragus is to amplify the sounds, the waves from which pass through the cartilage directly into the ear. Antitragus "captures" sounds that come from the front.

2. The hyoid bone

The hyoid bone is the only one in your body that is not connected to other bones. Instead, it is surrounded by a muscle tissue. The presence of the hyoid bone in the throat is what allows people to have a much wider range when singing (in some cases, up to four octaves). All other animals for the production of sounds simply rely on their vocal cords, but we have this additional assistant.

3. Glabella

The skin between your eyebrows covers the glabella. This protruding portion of the frontal bone serves two main purposes. Firstly, it allows a person to move his eyebrows and forehead, while allowing frowning. Secondly, the sensitivity of glabella helps protect the eyes from foreign objects. Sudden contact with glabella makes people blink.

So, if you touch the eye with your finger, you will blink. Similarly, if a fly, a large drop of rain or numerous particles fall on your glabella, you will blink to temporarily protect your eyes from foreign particles.

4. Frenulum

The bridle represents a small piece of tissue that connects your tongue to the rest of your mouth. This is the only purpose that it serves, but it is very important.

Frenulum helps to limit the flexibility of your language, which ensures that you do not swallow your tongue and do not suffocate at the same time. An interesting fact: the bridle does not like foreign elements and grows "around" them, pushing them out.

5. Cuticles of nails

Cuticles of nails are thick and durable layers of skin. Their main goal is to protect you from nail infections, as a new fabric is constantly created under them. If you have ever done a manicure from an inattentive or untidy craftsman, you must have noticed that this strong protective layer of skin bleeds when it is cut. This abundant blood flow is able to provide your nails with the necessary nutrients and calcium, essential for healthy nails.

6. The pituitary gland

This is one of the smallest parts of our body (roughly the size and weight of one pea). This assistant provides the release of hormones that are absolutely necessary for our happiness and survival. It controls blood pressure, genitals, metabolism, and also regulates the temperature and concentration of water and salt in the body.

7. Tonsils

Common misconceptions are that the tonsils are a remnant of the old evolutionary need that no longer exists. However, it is not. The body needs them. Tonsils - this is the first layer of protection of the mouth and throat from bacteria and viruses. Their task is to capture and kill "pests". Of course, without them it is possible to have a healthy immune system, but removing this first layer makes the human body more vulnerable.

8. Filter

A small concave moist part under the nose is present in many animals. It strengthens their sense of smell. But people no longer rely on their sense of smell, so they do not have a filter. However, this does not do us any harm, and there is no need for a filter.

9. Thumb

The location and shape of the thumb allows people to stand upright for a long period of time. Such a size and a rounded shape allow him to bear a lot of weight. Thus the person does not test any pain.

While it is still possible to maintain a balance without the big toe, the pressure exerted on the small pads of the small toes causes pain for a long period of time. It should be noted that wearing shoes that are too dense and small can cause deformation, which is able to make long walks and standing position is very unpleasant.

An interesting fact: the famous basketball player Michael Jordan almost chopped off his thumb with an ax when he was young. Luckily for the Chicago Bulls, he was quickly taken to the hospital, where doctors managed to sew it on time.
