Windows 7: Error updating. How to get rid of it

As you know, since the version of Windows XP, Microsoft is constantly releasing so-called system updates and service packs. However, it's worth noting that in Windows 7, for some reason, the update error occurs much more often than in other operating systems. What to do with this, we now and understand.

Why does Windows 7 need to be updated?

If earlier the system update concerned most of the security system, recently (in particular, for Windows 7) they affect even some basic device drivers, as well as specialized platforms such as the Microsoft .NET Framework, which are necessary for the operation of certain programs and applications.

As for the problems, basically these are the errors of "Windows 7 Update Center" and the file responsible for starting the process of searching and installing updates to the system. Now we will focus on the causes of errors and solutions of some of the most common problems in more detail.

Error installing Windows 7 updates : causes

If we talk about the reasons, they, unfortunately, can be quite a lot. First of all, it includes the disabled automatic update, damage to the update file under the influence of viruses and malicious codes, mutual conflicts between the firewall, antivirus and update services, incorrect completion of the update process, and so on.

Despite the fact that in Windows 7 the update error can be present in different manifestations, for each situation you can find the most suitable effective solution to the problem.

Check for automatic updates

First, let's look at the simplest situation. It may very well be that the automatic search and installation of updates is simply disabled. To verify these settings, you must use Update Center, where the update method line must contain either an auto-run option or a search option followed by an installation prompt.

Note, even if such parameters are applied, the system immediately starts scanning for official updates on the Web, or rather, on the official Microsoft Update Center site, since the system initially refers to it.

Manual update

In the event that in Windows 7 an update error occurs after the automatic mode is enabled, you can use manual search.

If everything goes smoothly here and the system prompts you to install the updated updates, you just need to click the corresponding button. If the problem is not eliminated after this, you will have to take more effective measures.

First of all, you need to check the system disk (which, in fact, is installed on Windows 7) for errors. To do this, it is better to use the command line, rather than the properties of the disk, called through the "Explorer". For example, in the "Run" menu, you can set the chkdisk command c: \ f, which allows not only to check, but also to automatically correct system errors.

If the error is repeated again and again, the reason for its occurrence may be that the file responsible for starting the update process is corrupted. In this case, you need to perform a deep scan of any anti-virus software, and it is better to use utilities called Rescue Disc, which are launched before the system starts from the optical media.

Firewall and antivirus issues

No less common situation, when in Windows 7 the update error appears even after all the above actions, there is a process conflict hidden from the user's eyes with a regular antivirus or firewall.

It's clear that the update program refers to a reliable source (in this case directly to Microsoft's resources), so you can disable them for a while before starting the update process, but only on condition that the preliminary check has shown the absence of viruses and threats.

Error after upgrading Windows 7

Now directly about the most common mistakes, not counting what was described above. The error codes for updating Windows 7 - this is a fairly large database, consider the three most frequently manifested.

Error 643 is due to the inability to update the Microsoft .NET Framework. Other system components can be updated, but it is its update that causes an error. It simply needs to be removed from the system and reinstalled, after downloading the latest version from the official Microsoft website. By the way, as for deletion, it is better not to use standard tools from the "Programs and components" menu. In this case, an advanced uninstaller will be useful, removing from the system absolutely all residual files and registry key entries.

One of the most powerful programs of this type is the utility iObit Uninstaller, which has a special Forced Uninstall mode.

Equally common is the error code 800b0100. In this situation, the most acceptable solution will be the use of automatic fixers problems such as Fix It or System Update Readiness Tool. In most cases, they are able to fix the problem automatically, even without user intervention.

But the biggest headache for many users is the error code 0xc0000005. It appears after installing updates to the system. Typically, this type of error is caused by updates in the form of packages KB2859537 and KB2872339. Their removal and allows you to get rid of intrusive mistakes.

The easiest way is to type wusa.exe / uninstall / kb: 2859537 or the same on the command line, but only for KB2872339 (of course, the login should be made on behalf of the administrator). If this also does not help, you will have to use the update log, in which all the packages should be sorted by date. Most likely, some last update and causes failures. Now you need to delete the packets in turn, each time you reboot the computer until the error disappears (you can use the same command line). When the problem is resolved, it will be possible to install the updates manually, but to remove the problem packets from the list.
