Are not Windows 7 updates installed? Step-by-step instructions for troubleshooting

Windows 7, although it is an improved "operating system" compared to previous versions, it also constantly requires the installation of updates and service packs (service pack). And this can often cause a lot of unforeseen problems. Now we'll figure out why Windows 7 updates are not installed and what to do in this situation.

Why do I need to update Windows?

Many users of computer systems with Windows 7 (or any other "operating system") do not even fully realize what the system needs to update for, considering that updates only concern latency holes in the security system.

This is partly true, because many intruders almost every day find holes in it through which they penetrate other people's computers and do their dark things from mere violation of the integrity of the "operating system" and its correct functioning up to the theft of personal data (confidential information) And bringing the system to full "crash" even with the removal of files and folders.

On the other hand, constant updates relate to all the components of Windows and special platforms, the installation of which makes it possible to optimize the performance of the entire system. But here there are some nuances and some subtleties. Now we'll look at the problem of why Windows 7 updates are not installed.

Problems with automatic updating

To begin with, you need to make sure that the automatic update option is turned on in the computer system as recommended by default, and there are no disruptions to the connection to the Internet.

In order to view this data, you just need to go to "Windows Update" and in the options settings check the line indicating the automatic update method. It may very well be that this option is simply disabled.

If you do not install updates to this question again, you can install Windows 7 updates manually, because the file that is responsible for the automatic update may be corrupted.

Manual Update

If there was a problem with automatic updating, you can try it manually, using the same search function in the same "Update Center", after which you click on the button on the right "Install Now".

If updates are installed, then the problem is really in the update file itself. What to do with this, will be said a little later, but, apparently, violations in his work can be associated with the impact of viruses or damage.

As for file corruption, the situation can be corrected by restoring the system, provided that before such errors were not observed. By the way, this problem is often observed in situations when Windows 7 SP1 updates are not installed. The first service pack is considered to be somewhat underdeveloped.

Error 643

Problems can also be called when Windows 7 updates are not installed (error 643) due to problems in one of the main platforms of the system. This is the Microsoft .NET Framework (this error applies to this component).

Many users, whether by knowledge, or by habit, begin to update it in manual mode. But this is a mistake. The fact is that the problems associated with it can really greatly affect the automatic update. There is only one way out: completely remove it from the system (at least from the "Programs and components" section), then download the installation distribution of the latest version from the official Microsoft website, and only then install it into the system in manual mode.

Here, only preliminary deletion is desirable, not with the help of the "native" Windows uninstaller, but with some third-party utility that allows you to delete all residual files, as well as entries and keys in the system registry in full. Programs for this are enough. For example, a fairly serious utility is iObit Uninstaller with the built-in function of the complete removal of Forced Ininstall.

Error code 800b0100

Frequently, Windows 7 updates are not installed (code 800b0100) due to problems with the "Update Center" as a whole.

In this case, it is recommended to use the utility of automatic scanning and error correction from Microsoft such as System Update Readiness Tool or Fix It. Both programs are very easy to use and allow you to find and fix problems in automatic mode.

In most cases, this technique allows you to get rid of a lot of problems, not even related to the inability to update the system. For the most part this applies to the second utility.

Disabling antivirus and firewall

But why are not Windows 7 x64 updates installed because of any restrictions on the part of the antivirus or the firewall (firewall)?

Indeed, sometimes such situations can occur. It all depends on what kind of antivirus is installed in the system. It may very well be that a conflict arises between the firewall and the anti-virus software.

Naturally, the update comes from a reliable source (the impact of viruses with redirection of the query, we are not yet taking into account), therefore, during the update they can simply be disabled.

If after that the update will be in normal mode, you should change the antivirus or reconfigure the firewall, making the antivirus itself in the list of exceptions.

Viral infection

Now let's see what can be done when Windows 7 updates are not installed due to viruses or malicious codes. As already mentioned above, some of them are able to spontaneously install a redirect (redirection) to another source in the "Update Center" when trying to access the update system.

It is clear that in this case it will be necessary to conduct a full scan for threats, but it is desirable to turn on the advanced analysis mode. Time, of course, it takes more (up to several hours), but then you can be firmly confident that all threats are eliminated.

If this scan also does not help, you can use the Rescue Disc utilities that run before Windows starts. By the way, they make it possible to perform a much better test than regular antiviruses.

Afterword

If all the above methods do not help, and the problem remains, in the extreme case, you can try reinstalling the system again, so to speak, from scratch, or use the recovery console located on the original installation or recovery disk (Windows 7 Rescue Disc - not to be confused with antivirus Utilities).
