Who is the Drax Destroyer? What is its main purpose?

So it happens that you live for yourself, do not bother anyone, and suddenly take everything: family, car, work and life. Even the soul is not left alone. Set her in a new body, put a certain task and send her to perform. Few people agree to this. However, no one asked him. Such a fate was awarded to one of the members of the team of "Guardians of the Galaxy" - Drax the Destroyer, after a misfortune happened to him.

New life

Before this happened, Arthur Sampson Douglas lived with his wife Ivette and daughter Heather in California. One day, during an automobile walk through the Mojave Desert, they spot a spaceship in the sky. The messenger was then run by a wandering titan named Thanos. And since his plans did not include being seen by a simple American family, he decided to attack her.

After the attack, only Heather could survive. She was lucky, as she liked the mentor of Thanos, Mentor, who taught her, after which she became a hero with mental abilities. Later, she was nicknamed the Moon Dragon for attempting to destroy the Dragon of the Moon.

With Arthur, there was a very different story. His body was destroyed, but consciousness still lived. And very soon he found an application.

The fact is that aggressive methods of Thanos eventually bored even the Mentor, so together with Kronos, the representative of the race of the Eternal and the cosmic master of time, they decided to stop him. For this, they created a body with certain abilities, and settled the spirit of Douglas into it. So there appeared Drax the Destroyer, who had absolutely no idea about his past life and was programmed solely to destroy his only enemy, Thanos.

The first fight

So, eating rage at Thanos, Drax pursued him for many years. And at some point he faced a chance to fight with him. This happened during the search for a part of the sacred collection of Odin - "Space Cube". Drax the Destroyer (photo below) in the company of the Avengers, Moon Dragon and Captain Marvel after a hard battle overcomes Thanos.

But the victory was not final, so Drax again goes in search of him, until he learns that the villain was killed by the team of the Avengers and Adam Warlock (Gold Surfer).

Unexpected union

Now he has a lot of free time, because the goal of his whole life is achieved. Therefore, he begins to hang about in galaxies, until he gets under the influence of the evil nature, which forces him to attack the Torah and the Moon Dragon. Heather, possessing the necessary abilities, forces the creature to release Drax. And he as a token of gratitude invites her to travel together.

In one of their wanderings, they stumbled upon the planet Ba-Banis, inhabited by humanoid beings who had long been on the verge of civil war. Heather, through his skills, helps them avoid bloodshed, and then decides to remain on the planet as their deity. Drax the Destroyer ("Marvel") understands that this is wrong, therefore sends the Avengers a signal for help.

Learning about this, Heather takes the former father under control, but the Avengers are already there. They release Drax from under someone else's influence, and he is going to finish off his daughter, but he loses. The Moon Dragon separates his mind from the body, thereby destroying it. The Avengers stop it, and Drax's body is put in a capsule and sent into space, where it explodes.

Resurrection

How everything was quiet in the universe until Death decided to resurrect Thanos! In response, Kronos returns the Drax of the Destroyer. Only now he creates for him an even more powerful body. However, Heather last time damaged his mind, so in a new body Krosnos instilled what was left of him, and in this condition sent Drax to Earth.

By the way, the strong man liked it very much. Moreover, on Earth, he began to recall some details of his past. He again met the Lunar Dragon, and they even developed friendly relations again. Although Heather was afraid that he would remember, about what she had done to him. But, as it turned out, the fears were in vain, because of those events Drax the Destroyer did not remember anything at all.

Another battle

After a while Drax decided to leave the planet, because he had a strong hatred for Thanos. He went to look for him. Titan in the meantime already managed to get all the Stones of Infinity and created from them the Glove of Infinity. With such force, he was unbeatable.

In his quest, Drax met the Silver Surfer, who became his ally. Together they were able to find Thanos, but the villain, in order to get rid of them, imprisoned the heroes in the Stone of Souls. Inside, they meet other prisoners who, through joint efforts, help them free themselves. Drax is furious, he again attacks the titan, but the owner of the Infinity Glove can not be defeated, so he loses. In that battle, at the hands of Thanos, many were killed, but Drax fought until the space pirate and mercenary Nabul, having taken away the glove from the titan, did not defeat him.

Keepers of Infinity

After the defeat of Thanos, Adam Warlock decided that the Infinity Stones should be kept separately from each other. Therefore, for each of them he chooses the Guardian. Drax also gets his stone, but because of his stupidity swallows it, taking it for a treat. It's good that he did not digest, but just kept it all in his stomach.

True, the Guardians' team did not last long, especially since the Moon Dragon in one of the missions was mortally wounded. Drax had been courting her for a long time, and then asked Kronos to cure her. The Time Lord agreed to help, but in exchange took away part of Drax's physical strength.

The next death

After a while Draks the Destroyer gets on board the prison ship, in which several hundred prisoners were forwarded to the intergalactic prison. But they do not get to their destination, but crash on Earth. Many dangerous prisoners immediately found themselves outside their cells, and Drax had to restrain them so that they did not harm peaceful passengers.

And a little later, when he made his way to the place where the ship fell, one of the prisoners, Peybak, blocked his way. In the battle with him, Drax was killed, but that did not mean his end. After a while he got a new body with improved intelligence, but a smaller set of abilities. Although this did not prevent him from fighting again with Thanos.

Again Thanos

During the Annihilation, when the ruler of the "Negative Zone" Annigilus with the help of his army tried to capture the "Positive Zone", on board one of the ships was the titan of Thanos. As soon as Drax felt it, he was seized by a frenzied rage. Without thinking more about anything, he decided to go alone to the ship and finish off his worst enemy.

Thanos himself had not yet guessed that Annigilus had deceived everyone. After all, he said that he was going to simply subordinate the "Positive Zone" to become its ruler, and he himself intended to capture Galactus, the creator and devourer of the worlds, in order to destroy all life with his help.

When Thanos realized this, it was already late. He wanted to free the Silver Surfer, but Drax was already there. From wild anger his body was surrounded by a luminous aura. And he dealt a blow that not only struck the shield of Thanos, but also tore his heart. After that, the Silver Surfer freed Galactus, and that powerful explosion destroyed the Annihilation Army.

Powers and abilities

Drax the Destroyer (film "The Guardians of the Galaxy"), or rather his body, represents a collection of several abilities at once:

• Force. Has a superhuman strength and is capable of lifting a weight of about 100 tons.
• Invulnerability. His body is able to withstand almost any physical and energy attack. Moreover, he does not fear the heat of the sun and the cold of the cosmos.
• Regeneration. Even if someone succeeds in injuring Drax, his wounds quickly drag out. True, he could not know if he could grow a limb.
• Flair. Drax is not a bloodhound, but he is able to locate the titan of Thanos from any distance.
• Mysterious aura. At the peak of his rage Drax can create an aura around himself, after which his power grows so much that he is capable of much. For example, break through the strong shield of Thanos, and then wrest his heart.
• Flight. Drax Destroyer can fly at a very high speed, which is slightly less than the speed of light.
• Explosive energy. This rolling is able to release energy from the hands.

True, it must be borne in mind that he had all these forces and abilities in full force only in the beginning. After several revivals (or deaths) he had to sacrifice flight, energy rays and part of his physical strength.
