At the age of nine, the boy and his family moved to Moscow from Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. Who has not heard about these difficult eighties? How many have they broken, how many spoiled life!

The Popkovs also did not pass around. Money in the family was sorely lacking, so the fourteen-year-old Albert decides to go to work. After all, the picture constantly stands before our eyes: a tired mother, exhausted at two jobs, constant shortages of one or the other ...

But I was able to get a job for a teenager only at the Moscow pencil factory with a plate drier for the production of pencils. Work took away from the teenager a lot of strength and time, so it was good to study Albert.

And in the tenth grade it became clear: the young man would not be allowed to pass exams for admission. It's funny, but the one who created "Classmates" in the twenty-first century and became due to this millionaire, in the early nineties was an uninteresting student who was not very interested.

Why did no one see the talents of a young man? This fact remains in question. But nevertheless, already at the age of sixteen Popkov becomes a programmer.

Seven years of work in the Research Institute of Counting Engineering allowed Albert Popkov from a junior employee to become a leading engineer. But in the 90 years to exist on the salary of an engineer in Moscow was unrealistic. Therefore, Albert had to leave the research institute and become a temporary supply, he even traded in the market in the "Luzhniki".

But all the same he did not leave his studies with programming, making remarkable progress in this field. Due to his persistence and talent Popkov in 2000 receives an invitation to London, where he participates in the creation of two large reference systems in the UK and a large-scale social network in Spain and Germany.

And in 2006 Popkov creates the favorite site "Odnoklassniki" for his personal money. The stunning success of the social network interrupts Albert's career in England. He returns to Moscow and is completely immersed in the work on "Classmates".

But today the one who created "Odnoklassniki" decides to leave his offspring and starts working on a new project - the site "Comparison.ru." This new project is planned as a service for choosing insurance and banking services.
