What is the power of music. The transforming power of music

Since the earliest times, the existence of mankind has been closely associated with art. Rock paintings of the Paleolithic era are still found in ancient untouched caves, and the Gregorian chorals are still considered one of the patterns of harmony and beauty of sound. Along with exact sciences like mathematics and astronomy, music in the era of Antiquity was considered one of the most important components of a person's life and a real embodiment of his endless pursuit of beauty.

Primitive rhythms of primitive tribes over time not only acquired a new sound, but also filled with new meanings. From century to century, music became more and more beautiful and diverse, the greatest composers were born and died, new genres and trends were created. In different epochs, the sound of instruments became sacred, then it was declared diabolical intrigues. However, this did not prevent mankind from preserving the love of music, having carried it through the years and even centuries.

Where the sounds were born

There is a huge number of theories about what the power of music and how unorganized sounding acquired systemic character, was endowed with feelings and absolute power over human consciousness and soul. It was perceived as a gift of the gods and as a way of contact with the alien intellect, was considered from the point of view of the natural development of man, who in due time turned his attention to the sounds of his surrounding nature. Where are the origins of the musical camp and the modern variety of musical styles, genres and trends?

Before a person realized himself

We all live in a world filled with diverse sounds. The modern man has long been accustomed to the constant cacophony of horns and the rustling of tires, the creaking of floorboards under his feet and the buzz of factories. All this became quite a natural part of our life.

For the primitive man everything was different. Loud sounds told him about the danger, and the cries of animals - about the possibility of successful hunting. Such a thunder that was familiar to us was a real shock to the ancient people, and the crackling of logs in the fire was perhaps the most native sound imaginable.

Our distant ancestor was forced to adapt to the environment. That is why, at one stage in his development, he decided to tame the sound. At first these were simple cries based on onomatopoeia. Then primitive rhythms like drums were added to them, and over time it turned into real ritual songs, the echoes of which we can still hear in the traditional ethnic motives and culture of some African tribes that have preserved their closeness to nature.

Initial function

To understand the power of music, one should turn to the beliefs of ancient peoples. It is quite obvious that initially it acted as a sort of spell, a kind of language through which a person could communicate with the forces of nature, gods, the universe and even the afterlife. In Slavic culture there is still a memory of solemn dances and chants in honor of the Sunspot or winter Christmas. Even today, music can perform similar functions, but the impact is not on external factors, but on the inner world of a person.

What was known to the ancient Greeks

Perhaps, even in the times of Antiquity, it was known what the power of music is. This is indicated by a large number of representatives of the Greek pantheon, directly related to sound harmony. Apollo, for example, was traditionally depicted with a permanent harp in his hands, and the constant attribute of Dionysus was the drums and flute. And this is not counting the muses, each of which patronized a certain kind of art.

What was the power of music for the ancient Greeks? Bringing the soul and body into harmony, an eternal tribute to beauty and greatness, is one of the surest ways to touch someone else's nature. Even healing with the help of magic sounds was possible in Greece of the times of Antiquity.

What is said in fairy tales

In the folkloric traditions of the whole world this kind of art is also reflected. The magical power of music is described, for example, in the fairy tale about the boy-rat-cat (Nils), and the legends of beautiful sirens, the singing of which drove the brave sailors to cruel rocks, is known to many peoples. In German culture, for example, there is a legend about the beautiful girl Lorelei, whose voice brought death on many ships.

Gives music life force or selects it - not so important. More worthy of attention is the fact that the miracle of harmonious sounding has always existed for mankind in this or that manifestation.

Classic for tone maintenance

The fact that the transforming power of music is available to man is now an indisputable fact. Today, it brings not only spiritual, but also physical peace. In particular, this applies to classical compositions. Specialists of one of the leading universities in Italy at one time discovered the so-called Vivaldi effect, based on the immortal masterpiece "The Seasons".

Scientists managed to prove that regular listening to this composition not only positively affects the emotional background, but also improves memory in elderly people, on the whole having a very positive effect on the physical condition of the body.

Mozart for Intellectuals

The transforming power of music finds a slightly different reflection on this composer. It has been scientifically proven that regular listening to his masterpieces positively influences brain activity and contributes to the enhancement of a person's intellectual potential.

Miracle treatment of sound

Numerous studies in the field of alternative medicine allow us to talk about the possibility of direct treatment with the help of both world classics and modern compositions. The degree of sound strength in music determines the level of exposure to cells in the human body, which leads to a positive effect.

By and large, our body is a kind of tool. The cells of our body are filled with liquid, and the musical vibrations are capable of influencing them both positively and negatively. In fact, in this case we are talking about an effect similar to an ultrasound study.

Fine and Dangerous

Nevertheless, like any other, music therapy should be conducted with the utmost care. The improper use of sound waves is unlikely to kill a person, but it can do much damage to your mood and hearing.

The power of sound in music is a phenomenon that can not be underestimated. This is a powerful tool in terms of impact on our consciousness and subconscious. Thus, pacifying sounds can lead to a state of absolute tranquility, even with extreme irritation. That is why music therapy is often used in psychiatric clinics to work with violent patients.

However, it is possible and the opposite effect, in which an anxious and emotionally overloaded composition, audited regularly enough, is capable of extremely detrimental to the human psyche.

Very accurately it was possible to show the great director Stanley Kubrick in the film "Clockwork Orange", based on the book of the same name by Anthony Burgess. The magnificent Beethoven's Ninth Symphony became a real weapon, falling into the wrong hands.

When this is the only way to live

Finally, what was the music for the greatest composer? The power of love for her literally made Beethoven live, create and not give up. In the most terrible, most difficult of his days, he remained faithful to the music camp and the beautiful sound that he could no longer hear, but could feel with all his being.

Young Mozart music pinned on a pedestal, and then cast into the abyss of poverty and obscurity. The harmony of sound is a real force, not tamed, but comprehended by man. This is one of the most powerful and beautiful art forms, not knowing the boundaries of time and space.
