What is the population of China today?

Surely everyone will agree that at the moment it is China that is the most populated country in the world. Today, approximately 1.3 billion people live in China, which is about 22% of the total population of our planet.

According to specialists in this field, the population of China was not always so high. For example, initially the population of this country was only 60 million people, this figure persisted until the 17th century. Rapid population growth was seen in the 18th century. In 1868, 300 million people were registered in China, but by 1949 these figures had almost doubled. It is important to note that the density of the population of China could continue to increase exponentially, but, unfortunately, every fifth child died before the year, and the life expectancy of the population did not exceed 35 years.

Characteristics of the population of China

As for the sex structure of the population, it is currently dominated by young people. This trend is related to the relatively high social status of young people, frequent childbirth and difficult conditions. At the moment, the country has a special demographic policy. A family with one child has the right to benefits and various social benefits. If a second child is born in the family, she automatically loses all the subsidies and returns the entire amount paid earlier.

The population of China, of course, is growing every year. It is important to note that the population is distributed unevenly throughout the country. According to statistics, about 80% of the country's citizens live on an area of 0.1% of the total territory of the state. The most densely populated areas are considered to be the middle reaches of the Yangtze and the Yellow River. In the western part of the country (Tibet), the density is only 2 individuals / km².

The share of the urban population is relatively insignificant - about 33%. On the territory of China there are 34 cities, whose population exceeds already today one million people, where about 40% of urban residents are concentrated. The largest cities are: Shanghai, Hong Kong, Harbin, Wuhan, Tianjin and many others.

Taking into account the above-described information (the population of China is quite high), this country can boast of the most numerous labor resources. For example, about 1/2 of the population of the country is involved in the business sector today. Moreover, by the beginning of the 21st century, according to specialists, the unemployment rate in this country was no more than three percent. Average, according to statistical calculations, life expectancy has sharply increased in comparison with the 18th century and is now 70 years.

China is considered a multinational country, on the territory of this state there are about 56 nationalities. More than 93% are Chinese.

According to the researchers, by 2033 the population of China will increase by estimates to 1.5 billion people. Favorable conditions for life, lack of unemployment, high life expectancy, an increase in the birth rate - all this, like nothing else, affects today the population of each state.
