What is caries? Causes and prerequisites of the phenomenon

Caries is a process that occurs in the oral cavity, a pathological phenomenon. It manifests itself as a demineralization and complete destruction of the teeth. The root cause is cariogenic microflora, which is accompanied by the formation of a cavity in the hard tissues of the tooth. If to say more simply, the process of deformation of the tooth, as a result of dissolution of the constituents of mineral substances, with the further formation of a hole, is also caries, the causes of which can be very diverse. This process occurs as a result of intensive influence of microbes. Bacteria that for a long period are in the mouth, digest carbon. The result of this kind of activity is acids. They destroy the surface layers of the enamel, and penetrate into the lower layers. Getting deep into the tooth, acids lead to complete destruction of the structure, and accompany the appearance of holes.

A process that can not only affect the condition of the teeth, but also the health of the whole organism is caries. The reasons for which it may arise are not limited to the presence of microbes in the cavity. An important factor that can have a negative impact on the condition of the teeth is the nature of the diet. Insufficient amounts of such elements as proteins, vitamins and minerals, and, of course, fluoride, can become one of the causes of such a phenomenon as caries between the teeth. Do not forget about the excessive use of carbohydrates, in particular sugars, which only stimulate the process of destruction.

At the modern level of the development of medicine, the problem of caries is a lot of time. Due to a number of studies, caries, the causes of which are not only external factors, are recognized as a hereditary phenomenon. The presence or absence of problems with the teeth directly depends on the condition of the teeth of the parents, as well as on the period of the initial formation of the teeth in the womb of the woman, their eruption, growth and development. It was proved that children, whose teeth appeared at a later age, suffer less from caries. This is due to the fact that the process of saturation of teeth with calcium and fluoride, which are contained in saliva, is more prolonged. That is why the first incised teeth and suffer from the negative effects of caries in the future.

There are several types of this dental disease, in particular caries in the stain stage. This phenomenon is almost not noticeable at first glance. Problems begin when a small white or dark spot forms on the surface of the tooth. Unpleasant sensations at this stage of the disease are not felt. Then follows a superficial caries. It, as a rule, is accompanied by a feeling of discomfort and unpleasant sensations in the oral cavity, especially under mechanical influence and temperature. At this stage of the disease, the surface of the tooth becomes rough. The average caries is characterized by the presence of a carious cavity. Deep caries, the causes of which can be varied, is characterized by a feeling of pain when you touch the cavity in your teeth. When germs enter the cavity, this is the first step toward a disease such as pulpitis, which is known to many due to intolerable pain.

To the reasons of caries can be attributed a number of factors. Among them, it is worth noting the unbalanced diet and the poor quality of drinking water. Do not forget about the diseases of internal organs, and diseases in the first stages of the formation of teeth. No less dangerous are dental deposits, which are related to the underlying causes of plaque and plaque. Food remnants, microflora and chemical composition of saliva. Causes of the disease can hide in the structure of the teeth: inadequate structure, genetic code, deviation from the necessary chemical composition.
