We make a sofa with our own hands

To begin with, you need to decide on the design, but the product like that exhibited in expensive exclusive furniture stores, is unlikely to be created by yourself.

But this is not required, because we need to make soft furniture comfortable, durable, original, inexpensive and suitable for a particular interior.

Therefore, the sofa described below will be of relatively simple construction, based on a wooden frame and standing on rollers or legs.

In the process of manufacturing pieces of furniture with their own hands, the availability of special skills is not necessary, where one should only have patience.

At the first stage, you should complete the drawing and carefully calculate the dimensions of the product. If you want to make a corner sofa for the kitchen, the calculations need to be done with special care, as it will be quite offensive if the final product can not be accommodated, for example between a refrigerator and a kitchen table. Typically, the frame of a typical sofa has the right rectangular shape.

Inside the structure it is possible to equip compartments for storing all kinds of things and objects. To the boxes it is possible to provide access from above, for which the seat must open up like a lid. The next option is different side niches, where it is possible to install baskets or boxes for laundry. After the completion of the drawing, it is possible to proceed with the purchase of the necessary materials.

For the manufacture of the frame will be necessary bars of fairly solid wood, where all the wooden elements should be as polished as possible, that is, without obvious defects and chips. If you plan to make armrests and backrests, then you need wooden boards. If the finished product is painted or varnished, it will look more stylish, where, for example, varnishes and various types of stain will qualitatively emphasize the exquisite texture of the material.

Even if you prefer to enjoy the freshness of natural wood, the surface must somehow be treated with a special protective compound. In addition to the wood coating, it is necessary to calculate the number of fastenings by which the frame elements will be joined together, and the backrest and armrests will be fixed.

For the filling of the seat, it is possible to use a usual foam or sintepon, as well as suitable upholstery and lightning for the upholstery.

We cut the timber and, according to the drawing, collect the sofa frame. To ensure that the future product is not loosened during use, the main fasteners must be sufficiently reliable, therefore, in addition to metal fastenings, it is desirable to apply a special glue suitable for wood, which should be glued all joints.

In the process of manufacturing the backrest, the main thing is not to overdo it with a slope, because excessive slope will be quite inconvenient. When creating a soft backrest and seating, it is possible to glue the foam directly to the wooden surface, and then sew it with a cloth.

Further upholstery is carried out where, by means of a furniture stapler, the material is attached to the wooden parts of the sofa structure, and it is also possible to sew the covers for the backrest and seat from the fabric, and in order for the covers to be subsequently removed for cleaning or washing, it is desirable to lighten them.

Before laying the foam rubber in the cover, it must be wrapped with a sintepon, and in order for the soft seat not to move aside, it should be fixed with the same stapler. At this stage, the work is almost finished and it remains only to varnish the wooden frame of the sofa, arrange the seat and move the product to the desired part of the apartment.

From the fabric that was used for the upholstery of the sofa, it is possible to sew curtains, pillow covers and a lampshade for the floor lamp, resulting in a very stylish room, as various interior details will be decorated in a common, unified style.
