Voronezh composer Romanov Yuri: biography and creativity

Folk music is not as popular as it used to be. Despite this, there are regular performances of ensembles throughout Russia, festivals are held. One of the most famous collectives until recently was "Voronezh girls", their leader was Romanov Yuri. During his life he wrote many unique works, which became known even to those who do not like folk or ethnic music. The Romanovs won several prestigious awards in Russia and abroad.

short biography

Romanov Yuri was born in the last year of the Great Patriotic War, in a small town of the Voronezh region - Povorino. Since childhood he liked music, so he immediately made a choice in her favor. At that time, cultural figures were not enough. He entered the Voronezh Conservatory, where he studied until 1965. His goal was to become a professional bayanist.

Later, he began to search for a place where he could combine training and professional activities. Like all bayanists-virtuosos, he dreamed of performing on stage, but not every conservatory or institute allowed to work and study. For this reason, he did not complete his studies either at the Voronezh Institute of Arts or at the Gnessin Institute. In 1978 he graduated from the Faculty of Folk Art in the Petrozavodsk branch of the Leningrad Philharmonic. There he studied the accordion in more depth, mastered the course of composition and conducting.

Start of professional activity

In those years bayanists-virtuosos performed on the stages of different cities of the world. Already there was a thaw and young musicians began to send to international festivals. For the first time Grand Prix Yuri Borisovich was in Helsinki in 1962, when he studied in Voronezh, later he twice won the jury of the international festival - in Havana (1978) and Moscow (1985).

Even in the process of learning, he dreamed of creating a professional team that would perform the composer's works. One accordion could not fully convey the breadth of musical compositions. For this, even during training, he began working in a children's music school, and then moved to the ensemble "Spring Dawns", where from 1968 to 1973 he was the leader.

In 1974, Yuri Borisovich Romanov was invited to the Voronezh Philharmonic for the post of accompanist. A year later he headed the ensemble, which received the Lenin Prize in the field of patriotic music. Later on the basis of this ensemble appeared a collective with whom Yuri Borisovich worked most of his life.

They are distinguished by a special style, which is a kind of handwriting of the master. Over each work the maestro worked until he achieved perfection, he carefully painted the party of votes and took into account all the nuances. In addition, he worked in the children's ensemble "Matryoshka", which trained cadres for "Voronezh girls". Many children from the small group have already joined the ranks of "girls".
