Types of subcultures. Examples of subcultures

They are not like adults. They require self-expression, which is not always liked by others, and sometimes even causes shock and condemnation. People unite in informal interest groups, where they are accepted as they are. This is a youth, rebelling, going against the established traditions and principles. Types of subcultures, created by mankind, usually differ in direction. They are musical, sports, ideological ... In any case, they stand out from the general mass and profess their values. Adult people can enter such groups, but this happens quite rarely and is not of a mass nature.

Hippie

If many of you think that the representatives of this movement only use drugs and have fun at parties, then this is absolutely not the case. Hippies appeared in the 60s of the XX century, creating an informal political organization. They often speak at rallies, conduct agitation. There are other examples of subcultures that have a clear political position. For example, informal people in the USSR who oppose the system; Skinheads whose actions are of an extremist nature; Antifa, condemning fascism, and so on.

The hippy movement arose as a protest against the war in Vietnam, which the US government began. In our time, they also advocate the affirmation of a person as a person, freedom of relations, unity with nature. At the same time, representatives of this informal organization go against violence, military service, and the use of weapons.

Hippies always wear long hair with a bandage, men often let go of a beard. Features of the subculture are manifested in the style of clothing: loose canopies, bright and informal, with patches and holes. They are romantics who are fond of the philosophy of the East and love soft rock.

Punks

Types of subcultures are striking in their diversity, unlike each other. Out of the total mass, the punks stand out very clearly. Shaved strips on the head and colored Iroquois, leather clothes with chains and pins, accessories with spikes - all these attributes make them original.

The movement was formed in the 70s of the last century in the USA, Canada, Great Britain, Australia. His representatives listened to punk rock. They spoke for freedom and personal independence. Removing stereotypes, breaking common principles, relying only on oneself, developing - these are their basic life principles.

Representatives of this movement have their own philosophical concept of subculture and its ideological direction. In politics, they usually adhere to "leftist" views. Many punks profess anarchism, antisexism, anti-militarism. They are against social inequality, the oppression of the Negroes and representatives of other races. They are in favor of animal rights, so they often become vegetarians.

Emo

Some kinds of subcultures lose popularity over time. They are replaced by newer, more progressive, adapted to the new century. Among them emo is a youth movement, the main attributes of which are asymmetrical hairstyles, falling bangs of hair, strands of bright colors, make-up with black hands, loose clothes, often with different accessories, badges and patches.

Subculture became popular in Russia in 2000. Her representatives adore hardcore music, for them it is the meaning of life. The essence of this movement is the fight against injustice, an open expression of emotions. But often representatives of emo simply bypass external attributes, without delving into ideology. They are called "poseurs" or imitators. Unlike them, real emo is very vulnerable and sensitive. There is an opinion that such adolescents are prone to suicide, so parents should pay careful attention to the child, try to understand his experiences and support in difficult situations.

Goths

They are often confused with emo. These types of subcultures have an analogy in their appearance - covering their face hair and makeup with an accent on black. But this concludes the similarity. After all, Goths, unlike emo, followers of the other world. They wear crosses, pentagrams, teeth and other terrible attributes. Therefore, it is natural that they gather in the cemeteries in the dark, often in the full moon. Respect for the dead, they do not feel, just graves and croaking crows in the trees - an organic atmosphere for them. However, they can not be called admirers of the cult of death.

They have no special ideology. The only thing that representatives of this subculture adhere to is moods in the style of decadence. They have a mysterious appearance and a grim look. Perceive life as it is, without embellishing it with imagination and dreams. It was the Goths who gave birth to such a movement as Satanism. This branch separated from its "ancestor", but took a lot from it: a black color in clothes, hard music in the style of heavy metal, collections in cemeteries. Only in contrast to the same willing, Satanists went further: they worship the devil, honor death, sacrifice animals, and sometimes people.

Metalworkers

The main concept of subculture, its main attribute and characteristic feature is heavy rock music. It is played in different forms by representatives of this movement. They always go to concerts of favorite bands, enjoy the quiet sound of tracks in headphones or at full volume in the speakers. Music is the main meaning of their life, it is always a part of it and a manifestation.

Metalworkers are divided into two groups: radical and normal. The first include teenagers, who often have a spirit of rebellion and aggression. They drink alcohol, arrange pogroms and brawls. Representatives of the second group are more loyal and calm. They do not bother anyone and just enjoy the music.

Black color prevails in the clothes of representatives of this subculture. Everyone saw a photo of metalworkers more than once. They are noticeable that they prefer narrow black jeans, high boots, leather jackets. Many metal people wear earrings in their ears, rings with skulls, often they ride motorcycles and enter the biker movement.

Ultras

It is difficult today to imagine a football match without different chants and songs, banners and flags, fayers and pipes. And behind all this is an organized group of fans who call themselves ultras. They live in football, fervently support their favorite club, arranging whole performances in the stadiums. Sometimes such a life for them becomes more colorful and fun than ordinary everyday life in the family or at work.

Ultras is a long time ago a real subculture with a clear hierarchy and its own attributes. Its representatives always go to the match of their team, even if it is conducted on the other end of the planet. In case of a victory, they walk until the morning and celebrate to their fullest; if the club loses, the ultras can come together in a mass brawl with the fans of the one who defeated their team.

The movement came to us from Italy. In 1966 the fans of "Milan" decided to unite in order to support their favorite players. Today, the movement has spread all over the world, like Goths, Emo or Hippies. These are just some examples of subcultures, popular and popular. In fact, they are much larger, and each has its own characteristics, philosophy and attributes.
