The Makarov Pistol is a personal weapon that is used for attack or defense, designed to target the target at short distances. The deadly force of the shot is 350 meters, but the maximum efficiency of the bullet is only 50 meters. The fire from the Makarov pistol is carried out only by single shots.

Thanks to the TTX, PM is recognized as one of the best existing pistols developed for self-defense. It has a compact form, is reliable, and also easy to use and maintain. The drawbacks of all such small sized pistols and classes are the small range and accuracy of the fire, in addition, the efficiency of the bullet does not possess high data.

TTX PM developed on the basis of automatic shooting. The pistol shell is made of high-quality steel. A spring of recurrent action is fixed around the axis of the fixed trunk. The trigger is self-cocking, after the shot the gun is automatically charged. There is a fuse on the left side of the shutter. Its included position completely blocks the impact mechanism, not allowing the gun to fire. The magazine capacity is 8 cartridges.

The pistol was developed in 1950 by engineer Makarov. Two years later, weapons were launched into mass production. Western experts in the field of weapons believed that the basis for the development of TTX PM 9mm was built on the principle of self-loading German pistol "Walter". The weapon was for a long time unique and best in its type. But it is worth noting that this assumption was not considered justified and was not considered seriously.

Shooting from the Makarov pistol is produced by cartridges 9x18, completely different from the western cartridges "Polis". Perhaps the basics of the TTX PM were developed through the study of the Ultra project, in which German engineers took part during the Second World War. The created cartridge never went into mass production on the territory of Germany, but it was well suited for the weapons created in the USSR with a free shutter.

The use of such a cartridge allowed Makarov's pistol to be left without any changes and modifications, which would become inevitable when firing with ammunition of more powerful action. One of the main and tangible differences between the TTX PM and the "Walter" was the trigger mechanism. The pistol, developed under the leadership of engineer Makarov, was adopted by the entire Soviet army in a short time . In the West, there were remarks about weapons, which concerned the appearance and ease of use - allegedly the gun is inconvenient to hold in hands. However, such discontent did not prevent the proliferation of weapons outside the territory of the USSR. China became one of the largest producers of PM, giving it a new name - "Type 59".

Studying the PM pistol, TTX and other less important weapons, you can find certain shortcomings. Engineers to the main minuses attributed the small capacity of the store and the weak capacity of the cartridge. Soon, a modernized PM was created, with an enlarged clip, which contained 12 bullets. The weight of the cartridge was reduced, but had a more powerful charge, capable of increasing the initial speed to 100 m / s. Unfortunately, modernization was unsuccessful, and the gun was not included in the batch production.
