Truck GAZ-4301

Serial production of the GAZ-4301 truck was launched in 1992. Equipped with a 6-cylinder diesel engine with a capacity of 125 hp. With air cooling from GAZ-542. The engine was produced under the license of Deutz, a well-known German company. Production of the car continued until 1994. During this time, 28158 trucks of the GAZ-4301 family were delivered to the wheels.

From the previous model, the 53rd model, the GAZ-4301 was distinguished by a diesel engine, and also by the fact that at the design stage it was possible to work continuously as part of a road train. In addition, it should be said about the 6-cylinder engine. This is a licensed copy of the engine from the company Deutz. GAZ purchased a license for a whole family, which also includes 4-cylinder diesel engines with different capacities.

Strengthening and sustainability

In connection with the fact that the chassis of the universal design was originally intended, many nodes belonging to the third generation trucks were radically reworked to enhance. Many of them were newly developed, namely: gearbox, rear axle with optional differential lock, front axle, suspension , cardan gear, frame. Also in the new model GAZ-43101 there was a dual-circuit braking system, which has a hydraulic drive and two pneumatic amplifiers. Good stability of the machine was achieved by creating a wide track of the front and rear wheels. His role was also played by the center of gravity, which is located low.

Improvement of consumer qualities

GAZ-4103 also includes many technical solutions, which were originally aimed at optimizing the consumer qualities of this truck. Here there is steering, equipped with a booster, an electric flare device that facilitates engine start, a driver's seat (adjustable sprung), ventilation and heating system is much more effective, there is a device for washing and blowing a semi-pan windscreen. All this enabled the GAZ-4301, the technical characteristics of which were much improved, to become, without a doubt, a new milestone in the model range of the plant.

But there were significant shortcomings ...

First of all, low demand for this truck was due to poor quality engine assembly, as well as their unreliability. This did not allow the mass production of diesel engines. The low volume of production was explained by another reason - the car had low traffic. The fact that the front axle was heavy, because the calculation was made on a powerful engine, and the car was intended for operation as part of a road train. But on the sordid roads, which are very much in our country, the GAZ-4301 continually got stuck.

In the early 1990s, unfavorable developments in the economy almost completely nullified the state order for cars for agriculture, including GAZ-4301. The result of this situation was that due to small volumes of output, the cost price of a diesel engine became several times higher than the cost of a car as a whole. For 1994, losses of motor production amounted to 200 million rubles, and in the following year this figure doubled. All this led to the fact that the leadership of the Gorky plant decided to stop the production of diesel engines, and the GAZ-4301 family from production to remove.

Nevertheless, this car has found application in our country. Although GAZ-4301 reviews are often not very pleasant, it is relatively cheap to repair, and is also an excellent means for transporting a wide variety of goods.
