The most you can think of a house made of cardboard is that it is a temporary structure. However, the Dutch design company Fiction Factory was able to create a reliable housing, using only cardboard for this. For the past four years, the designers have followed the development of Wikkelhouse, which means "House of Packages". To create this house, large rolls of corrugated recycled cardboard were used - it formed the walls and roof of the building.

The production of Wikkelhouse begins on a giant machine that applies a layer of environmentally friendly adhesive on long cardboard rolls. After that, the material wraps around the frame twenty-four times. This is done to ensure the strength and reliability of the house, as well as the fact that its shape will be appropriate. When the final result is reached, the structure is covered with a waterproof material, and then with wooden panels. Wikkelhouse is a modular design that can be completely changed to the taste of the owner. A larger construction, for example, can be obtained by adding more sections of the frame.
