Therapeutic department of the hospital and polyclinic
The word "therapy" is of Greek origin and in translation means "healing" or "treatment". Also in the modern healthcare structure of many countries, this concept refers only to the adult population, that is, to adult citizens, and medical care itself consists in conservative management of patients until full recovery or before or after transfer to surgical methods. That is why the therapeutic department is available in any multidisciplinary medical and preventive institution, whether it is a hospital or a polyclinic. Now consider the concept in more detail.
What hospitals consist of
Structure of therapeutic profile
If this multidisciplinary medical institution with a large territory, the therapeutic department of the hospital is divided into components. For example, it can be rheumatological, endocrinological, gastroenterological, neurological, pulmonological, cardiological departments and many others. Thus, patients with diseases of different directions are located and serviced separately. This is convenient for both administration and staff, and for the patients themselves, since it is much easier to distribute auxiliary equipment, medicines, provide food and care for patients. So, for example, in the therapeutic department of the hospital there is no need to supply tools for internal interventions and a range of disinfectants, as in surgical, where sterility is the main condition for conducting operations.
In outpatient clinics
More about therapy
This field of medicine studies "internal diseases" (that is, all nosological units affecting human organs): their etiology, pathogenetic variants, clinical variants, schemes for diagnosis, treatment and prevention. The therapeutic department always works in conjunction with the laboratories and research structures of the hospital (endoscopic, visual, radiation), since not only the correct outcome of the diagnosis is needed, but also the quality and effectiveness of treatment. The latter concept includes exclusively conservative schemes, that is, drugs, physical (UHF, electrophoresis, laser, magnetotherapy, etc.) and biological methods (immunotherapy).
Structure and meaning
Each therapeutic department has a certain number of beds, united in personal, two-, three- and more rooms, contains room-rooms of resident physicians, nurses, separately - a sister-hostess with inventory, kitchen, dining room, sanitary units. Stay in the hospital depending on the severity of the patient's condition can be round the clock or daytime. In the latter case, this applies to discharged patients who apply before the end of treatment for certain treatment procedures that can not be provided at outpatient clinics at their place of residence. Within the healthcare system, therapeutic patients sent from polyclinics through a specialized portal are entitled to free inpatient treatment with a full diagnostic examination. Exceptions are medicines and procedures that are not available in the hospital, or if patients wish to receive additional treatment, such as massage. At the end of the course for certain indications, it is possible to refer to preventive measures in the sanatorium and dispensaries.
