A bit of history

When was the Senate Palace built? The Moscow Kremlin was supplemented by this project on the instructions of Empress Catherine II "for glorification of the Russian state". Initially, the building was intended for administrative purposes. Initially, there were state institutions and celebrations for the nobility and the nobility.

In the XIX century, the palace was called "the building of places of presence", since it contained city administrative authorities and judicial bodies.

After the October Revolution, Lenin's office was in it. Later, the Kremlin's Senate Palace was the seat of the Ministries of the SSR.

Since the end of 1991 the residence of the Russian government has been located here, and in 1995, for the first time in 200 years, the general restoration of the building began, which lasted more than two years. Painfully restored the decoration of rooms and rooms, furniture upholstery, candelabra, lamps, chandeliers.

After the restoration, the dome of the palace, like in the old days, once again began to decorate the statue of St. George the Victorious, who pierces the spear of the serpent.

Catherine Hall

Rotunda Hall or Ekaterininsky Hall immediately impresses with its size. It has more than twenty meters in diameter and almost thirty meters in height.

"Huge", "majestic", "monumental" - as soon as it was not called. The very idea of hall performance - scale, triple lighting, proportionality and commensurability of individual parts - produces a striking impression. The device of a huge rounded arch emphasizes the aesthetics of classicism.

White and blue colors harmoniously correspond with the gilded fragments, are the classic completion of the integrity of the picture.

Oval Hall

It was preserved from the "Cossack" time, it is also called the Executive Cabinet. During the restoration, the masters completely preserved the historical situation and restored the original color background.

The hall is dominated by white colors and light green tints, which gives it rigor and solidity.

Malachite huge fireplace - the pearl of the Oval Hall. Bronze watches, products and candelabra attract attention. The set rich parquet is an imitation of the carpet, it is made of valuable and rare wood species.

Cabinet and Presidential Library

In the northern part of the Senate Palace there are administrative government offices, as well as the president's office. The appearance of it slightly changed during the restoration.

The office is relatively small. During the reconstruction, the workers tried to reproduce the original space-volumetric trends of the room, which were laid by the architect.

Ideally polished oak panels are professionally adjusted. The walls have a deep golden hue. A comfortable and effective furniture set is also made of oak. On the ceiling adorns a strict form of ornament, which gives the cabinet a grand look.

The library cabinet corresponds to the good traditions of classical Russian construction. Shelves cabinets are made of dark wood. Bright plafonds and chandeliers set off dark shelves and white walls. The overall atmosphere in the room is very solemn.

The Blue Room and the Auditorium Room

The living room is next door to the office. The upholstery of the furniture is harmoniously complemented by the curtains, they are made in dark blue tones. Golden brushes perfectly fit into the design of the room and emphasize the white-gold furniture tree. Mirror drops of candelabra add peace and grandeur to the room.

Next to the Blue Room is the Audience Hall. Its walls are hung with manuscript portraits of the emperors of Russia, the floor is magnificent and exquisite. The marble fireplace of light colors is an interesting detail of the interior. It is decorated with chandeliers with graceful sculptural groups. A light arched ceiling and a shade of walls are in harmony with the gilded furniture decorated. The "Bordeaux" upholstery dilutes the interior and gives it officiality and solemnity.

The masters during the restoration made every effort to recreate the original Senate Palace to the smallest details. Moscow is proud of this monument of antiquity, which is the pearl of the whole ensemble of the city.
