Plot

In one fabulous kingdom lived - not humble modest Baker. He married a woman who was very fond of, but only they had no children. For a long time they tried to understand what was the matter. The problem, as it turned out, goes far into the childhood of the Baker, when his father was stolen from a witch-neighbor by miracle beans. Then the very sorcerer was punished, so that it was not possible to treat the magic things so carelessly. The witch, on whom the damnable curse now lay, took revenge on the family of Baker and made him the last in his lineage.

And now, having learned the cause of his misfortune, Baker and his wife go to the forest in search of ingredients for a magic potion. Fortunately, the same elixir can remove the spell from the witch herself.

Employed in the fairy tale "The farther into the woods" the actors played a colorful story about the adventures of two heroes in a mysterious forest, not for nothing that was famous for magic. As if by the order of a good fairy, the paths of Baker, Cinderella, Red Cap, Wolf, Rapunzel and Jack will cross. Each of them dreams about something of his own and must fulfill a certain mission in order to achieve what he wants. And in the end, as usual in good fairy tales, all heroes must forget their disputes and grievances in order to defeat the enemy in the face of the Giantess.

Actors

Successfully selected actors of the film "The further into the forest" make up a whole star galaxy. The main roles in it were given to James Corden (whose asset is the Tony Award) and Emily Blunt, who had previously won her Golden Globe.

No less important character, a villainous witch, in the film played a brilliant Meryl Streep. Perhaps, this woman does not need a special representation: it is enough to mention only nineteen of her nominations for Oscar, three of which were crowned with a victory. Another antagonist, the Wolf, was played by the bright and eccentric Johnny Depp, nominated for an Oscar three times.

If you are talking about the villains, you can not forget about the stepmother performed by Kristin Baransky (two-time owner of "Tony" in addition to one "Emmy") and the charming Giant Francis de la Tour (previously awarded the prize of Lawrence Olivier and "Tony").

The company in forest adventures the main characters were Anna Kendrick (Cinderella), Lilla Crawford (Little Red Riding Hood), Mackenzie Mosie (Rapunzel) and Daniel Huttstone (Jack).

According to Emily Blunt, "The farther into the forest" is a film about the importance of relationships and about what people are ready to go for the realization of a dream. She found it interesting and realistic to look at women as strong and leading, which is not so often in fairy tales.

Even before the filming of the film "The Farther Into the Forest" the actors and the whole crew were brought together by director Rob Marshall. He did this in order to introduce to each other all those who have a long time to work in the same team. At the meeting, they discussed the future process of filming. This approach helped to get rid of embarrassment, find a common language, and actors - it is better to get used to the role.

The operator group pre-marked the way the cameras will move so that the actors have an idea about it. John Bibi and his assistants decided not to use the techniques considered to be traditional in camera work. The main difficulty for them was the abrupt transition from dialogue to song and the need to make these transitions organic and natural.

Film crew about the director

Rob Marshall - not only a talented director, but also a choreographer, awarded the Emmy Award. His production, he built so that it is impossible to imagine without songs - they reveal part of the story, according to composer Stephen Sondheim.

The actors "The farther into the forest" speak of the Marshall as a man who knows his business. Tracey Ullman says that his readiness to lead this project is beyond doubt.

As the scriptwriter of the film and the eponymous musical, James Lapin, Marshall is perfectly able to maintain the dynamics and tension of the narrative, skilfully arranging scenes and frames of short duration.

Producer John de Luca notes Marshall's sensitivity. During the filming, the director behaved like a caring hen, individually discussing with each their tasks and emerging problems.

Shooting locations

Which place is best to revive the tale on the screen? The camera crew "The farther into the forest" decided that the ideal for this purpose could be England with its mysterious forests, filled with magic, ancient castles and estates.

The first scene of the film was Jack's song "There are giants in the sky", which he observed watching the growth of huge shoots from magic beans. Everything happened on the territory of the Ashridge estates, not far from Berkhamsted.

Several locations were located in the vicinity of Henley-on the Thames, more precisely in the village of Hambleden. But the main finding of the crew was the Great Windsor Park with its centuries-old oak trees and a mysterious atmosphere. It was here that most of the full-scale forest scenes were filmed.

Costumes and decorations

The main difficulty in the work of artist-director Dennis Gassner was the need to combine together several completely different in style of fairy tales, bringing something of its own, original. It was decided to begin building a unique atmosphere with the search for Angelic oak, which is the center of the production.

Although most of the filming of the film was full-scale, the artists had to sweat fairly over the creation of scenery for some scenes in the pavilion. It was necessary to make the transition of characters from the ordinary world into the magical unnoticeable and natural. English changeable weather also made its own adjustments to the shooting process.

Colin Atwood, who worked on the creation of costumes, had previously been awarded an Oscar for the films "Alice in Wonderland", "Memoirs of a Geisha" and "Chicago". Inspiration was given to her by the forest, the style and texture of which she tried to transfer to the outfits of heroes and heroines. At the same time, she took into account the character of each character.

Music

The transfer of the Broadway musical to the screen had its own peculiarities and complexities. It was necessary to naturally overcome transitions between dialogues and musical parties. For this part of the songs (and sometimes completely) the actors performed live right on the court, and only then, if necessary, the sound was corrected in the studio.

When voicing the Russian version of "The Farther Into the Forest" actors of dubbing - G. Chiginskaya (Meryl Streep), A. Bordovsky (Johnny Depp), M. Gladkaya (Emily Blunt) and others - recorded only dialogues, they decided to leave the songs themselves in Original, provided with subtitles.
