The height of the Ostankino Tower is above the clouds

In the sixties of the last century the erection of this building became a symbol of the scientific and technical progress of the USSR. The height of the Ostankino Tower is almost three hundred meters more than the height of the world famous Eiffel. Her project was designed by design engineer Nikolai Vasilyevich Nikitin. In the original version, the height of the Ostankino Tower was 533.3 meters, but today the structure "has grown" to 540 meters.

The peculiarity of this grandiose concrete structure is that the tower with its impressive weight (55 thousand tons) and the permissible deviation of the summit under the pressure of windy masses of 11.65 meters can never tip over. The point is that the center of its gravity is inside its support, bounded by a sixty-meter ring foundation, at an altitude of 110 meters on the very axis of the structure, along the circumference of which, like strings, from the top to the bottom ropes of steel in the amount of 150 pieces are stretched! Each of them is stretched with seventy-ton force. According to the author's forecasts, this design should last at least three hundred years, although the official term of its life is 150 years.

The height of the Ostankino Tower is the most visited by tourists who have visited this place since 1969. And there is something to see here. Inside the structure there are numerous lines and channels for television and radio antennas. Most of the interior rooms are halls and laboratories. They are equipped with running water, sewerage and telephone lines. Upstairs guests and staff of the television tower deliver seven huge elevators, four of them - high-speed. The main place for excursions is a circular observation room, girded with glass, behind which a marvelous panoramic view of Moscow opens. It is at an altitude of 337 meters and is considered the most spectacular viewing platform of the capital.

A little lower is one of the most famous restaurants in Moscow - "The Seventh Heaven". Visitors to the first place attracts the height of the Ostankino Tower. Guests are accommodated in three halls that are located under each other. The highlight of this place is that the restaurant literally rotates! Tables stand on a platform, which in an hour makes a full turn around its axis. The glass walls of the restaurant at the same time allow you to admire the views of the city from all sides. Particularly beautiful here at night.

Modern Muscovites are always ready to tell how many meters the height of the Ostankino Tower. After the fire in 2000, when three floors of the building completely burnt out, and a huge part of the population remained "without a TV and radio", the inhabitants of the city ceased to perceive this structure simply as an antenna. The fire destroyed several dozen concrete cables, which ensure the stability of the entire structure, but the tower stood up! After that, there were many assumptions that after the restoration this building will "grow up". True, they did not come true.

Today this is one of the most important places for Moscow. And it does not matter what the height of the Ostankino Tower (this structure has long been not the highest in the world), it is important that it is a perfectly preserved symbol of the era when the Russian capital, or rather the USSR, was the leader of scientific and technological progress all over the world.
