What is the difference from previous models

Often, drivers with the onset of colds found that the heating control lever simply stopped moving, which was the result of the souring of the internal elements of the locking device. The VAZ-2110 heater itself is a dismountable structure consisting of the following basic elements:

  • Plastic cover (body);

  • Electric motor with fan;
  • Drive (micromotor);
  • Damper.

Features of heater control

The cooling liquid circulating in the system constantly passes through the radiator of the "stove", heating it. But here already the heater is controlled not manually, but by means of an automatic system that even has a temperature sensor in the passenger compartment. It is enough for the driver to set the desired mode, and the automatics will independently maintain a certain climate. The on- board computer on the VAZ-2110 monitors all the processes taking place, notifying the driver of the temperature in the cabin.

You can also operate the heater manually. To do this, just open the flap to the desired angle and adjust the speed of the fan motor.

In principle, the "dozens" heating system has been well thought out by the designers, but VAZ-2110 malfunctions associated with it arise quite often. The main reason for this is the lack of proper maintenance and poor quality of the parts.

Symptoms of basic malfunctions of the "stove"

The signs that the VAZ-2110 heater is out of order are:

  • Arrival in the cabin of cold air with an open flap;
  • No airflow when the fan is on;
  • The air pumped into the cabin is not warm enough.

Why does not the "stove" warm up?

Cold air from the deflectors can indicate the following faults:

  • The interior temperature sensor has failed;
  • The heater control unit is faulty;
  • The micromotor-reducer, which drives the damper, has failed;
  • The radiator of the heater is defective (coolant does not circulate).

In the first case, check the sensor. It is located on the ceiling in the area of the lighting lamp. It is checked by an ohmmeter or car tester in its mode. At a temperature of 20-22 degrees Celsius, its resistance should be about 20 ohms, at 15-16 degrees - within 25 ohms. If it is determined that the sensor is faulty, it must be replaced.

The controller is diagnosed by measuring the voltage between the pink and brown wire on the large connector. To do this, the automatic control unit is removed from the seat, turn on the ignition and measure the voltage with a voltmeter, scrolling the knob of the regulator. If its value changes, the controller is working. Otherwise, it must be repaired or replaced.

To check the micromotor, it is necessary to disassemble the heater housing and connect the power directly to the motor connector from the battery. If it works, the reason must be sought elsewhere. If not, you will have to replace it.

Heating radiator VAZ-2110 is also able to deliver a lot of trouble. On average, it must be changed every 2-4 years. The reason for this is either the appearance of internal layers of scale formed due to the poor quality of the metal from which it is made, or the use of a low-grade coolant. The radiator of the "stove" VAZ-2110 can have an aluminum or copper construction. The latest version is preferable, since, unlike aluminum, it lasts much longer and can be repaired (sealed) in case of a leak.

The fan does not drive air

If it does not work when the heater fan is turned on, there can be only three main reasons:

  • The resistor (regulator) is faulty;
  • Blown fuse blower;
  • The electric motor has failed.

The resistor is checked by measuring the resistance at its terminals. The regulator itself, as, in principle, other VAZ-2110 electronic devices, is out of order rather rarely, more often the problem is the absence of contact or wire breakage.

The fan fuse is located in the mounting block located in the engine compartment. Identify its serviceability can be a conventional tester. If it is defective, replace it.

The check of the electric motor, as in the case of a micromotor-reducer, consists in its direct connection to the battery terminals.

There may be a situation where everything works, but the airflow is too weak. This can be caused by a clogged interior filter. Clean it, or replace it with a new one.

Why air does not heat up

It also happens that the on-board computer on the VAZ-2110, having received the task of warming up the passenger compartment to a certain temperature, can not cope with it. The first reason may be the same temperature sensor, having checked the resistance of which, it is possible to evaluate its performance. The second possible reason is a jammed shutter. But more often insufficient heating VAZ-2110 is a consequence of the negligence of the car owner. Lack of the required level of coolant leads to the fact that it enters the radiator of the heater, not filling it completely. In this case, before adding antifreeze or antifreeze, it will not be superfluous to check the system for leaks. Most likely, somewhere there is a leak of a cooling liquid.

Some useful tips for extending the life of the heater

  1. Always fill in the system only with the quality coolant provided by the vehicle manufacturer.
  2. Always monitor the level of antifreeze or antifreeze, and pay attention to the pressure in the cooling system. Leakage from the cork of the expansion tank may indicate that a cork has formed somewhere.
