The film "The Caucasian Captive" (1966), the actors and roles of which are the subject of this review, became a cult film and rightfully entered the golden fund of Soviet cinema. Story story

After the deafening success of L. Gaidai's comedy about student Shurik, the next year the Moscow film studio received a variant of a new script, which continues the amazing adventures of this already beloved character.

"The Caucasian captive", a story whose actors deserve a separate review, has received such fame that even a remake has been made. However, the original version of the plot was significantly different from what viewers saw later. The screenwriters suggested a variant of development where the main characters Nina and Sasha expose the cultic three in the snowy mountains, where these charming scammers act out the existence of a snowman. This story was later completely changed, so that as a result of the original story, only the heroes and mountains themselves remained, only not snowy, but Caucasian.

Choosing actors

It is interesting to have a story about how the actors and roles were distributed. The creators of the film "The Prisoner of the Caucasus" first of all made a bet on the beloved three: Trusa, Balbes and Experienced (performed by Yu. Nikulin, G. Vicin, E. Morgunov). In addition, the main character was to become a student Shurik (A. Demyanenko), because the picture was originally conceived as a continuation of his adventures, only now in the Caucasus.

The performer of the main female role was chosen for a long time. The director of the picture L. Gaidai was looking for a new face for the screen, so his team watched a huge number of photos sent from different parts of the country. N. Varley literally discovered the future creator of no less remarkable picture of the three Musketeers G. Yungvald-Khilkevich. Once on a tour of the circus, he noticed a beautiful and deft rope-walker and advised Gaidai to look at her on the samples. The director took a young actress for the role, and it was decided that she would perform all the tricks in the film.

However, since N. Varley at that time was not a professional film actress, the voice of her heroine was entrusted to the famous Soviet comedian actress N. Rumyantseva. Mkrtchyan played the uncle of the main character. You can say that the director got to the point of choosing the data of the performers. Episodic, but very memorable roles went to M. Gluzsky and G. Millar. Undoubtedly, these outstanding comedians became a worthy decoration of the film.

Shurik becomes a participant in the abduction of Nina, which takes place under the guise of a traditional wedding drawing, and only then learns that the girl was thus forced to marry. Outraged by such insolence of the groom and his accomplices, he embarks on her quest. In this difficult matter, his new friend Edik helps him. Resourceful young people manage to deceive watchful guardians, the famous troika, and save the captive, who, incidentally, shows considerable ingenuity, ingenuity and courage, which, it would seem, was difficult to expect from this frail girl.
