Storylines

The picture of Merkulova and Chupova is woven from the stories of middle-class townspeople - successful, financially secure, but deeply unhappy. At a certain stage in their life they fell into the trap of their intimate problems and became entangled in the wilds of their complexes.

In the film "Intimate Places" the actors embodied heroes with "cockroaches" in the head of a truly grandiose size. A successful natural man Sergey was surprised to find in himself a homosexual beginning, flushing with passion for the admirer of his wife. He has no idea what to do with the surprise, which gave him life in the fourth decade, because he tracks down the object of his lust.

A model family man Alex is afraid to change his wife. To avoid the pernicious influence of beautiful women, he decides to look only at ladies with impressive dimensions from the social bottoms and with surprise notes that they lead him into real delight. A man introduces a new passion to the frank stupor of his psychoanalyst Boris. The doctor, however, is also not without sin. The object of his passion was confusing. And from them, Boris does not need intimacy.

In the midst of this quiet insanity, a polygamous photo-artist-bigaman Ivan and Lyudmila Petrovna, a lady of Balzac's age with irrepressible sexual appetites and a passionate desire to impose a ban on erotica in the country.

To laugh or cry?

Actors of the film "Intimate Places" exposed the intimate secrets of their heroes to the audience, which could evoke sympathy, disgust, and nervous laughter. The genre of the film is difficult to define. In it there is everything: both a true drama, and unostentatious comedy, and eroticism, and absolutely uncorrupted, rather asexual. After all, it is not about passion, but about problems that destroy the personality.

For this reason, the audience took the film ambiguously. Watching the intimate collisions of the characters, some laughed without stopping, others genuinely empathized with the heroes and sighed with relief: on the screen reality is scarier and more unsightly than in life. Still others reproached the picture for the horrendous immorality, the abundance of foul language and not the most aesthetic presentation of nude nature, which made the picture far from traditional erotica.

How did the casting take place?

Due to the latest feature of the film production, the directors had a lot of difficulties during the casting. Many prospective candidates for roles refused to participate in the project, perceiving it as a "dubious nudity." Then no one could have foreseen that the directors would receive the "Best Debut" prize at the Kinotavr Festival, the main prize of the program "To the East of the West" in Karlovy Vary, and the film itself will receive the diploma of the Guild of Film Experts and Film Critics.

However, some eminent actors immediately felt the powerful potential of the provocative project. So, the famous actress Olesya Sudzilovskaya, who played Svetlana, the wife of photographer Ivan, was delighted with the script. In one of her interviews, the actress confessed that she would willingly have acted in an outrageous picture for free, she was so impressed with the idea of Merkulova and Chupov. For the role of Svetlana Sudzilovskaya had to compete: she went on endless trials and was waiting for a response from the directors.

Unexpected decisions

During the casting for participation in the film "Intimate Places" the actors and roles were selected carefully, and for some of the heroes, at the beginning of the shooting, there was not a single suitable candidate. So, the latent homosexual Sergey had to play in the end to Chupov himself. He was not a professional actor, but decided on a risky experiment.

And for the role of the guardian of the morals of Lyudmila Petrovna, the directors found the actress only six months after the start of the casting. She brilliantly performed Julia Aug, which Merkulova and Chupov initially could not even imagine in such an eccentric manner. From the point of view of the directors, her pleasant Russian face would look great in staging about village life, but not in experimental projects. As it turned out, they were wrong. Julia was awarded the prize "For the best female role".

The main character of the film was embodied in a charismatic actor Yuri Kolokolnikov. The future magnate of the tenors Stear from the cult series "The Game of Thrones" played the role of an outrageous photographer Ivan, whose creative activity comes down to shooting the genitals, and the life position - to absolute sexual freedom.

Man is created for happiness, believes the hero Kolokolnikov. And if so, why not take everything from life? In Ivan's house there are two wives forced to put up with the photographer's polygamy, and he wanders from one to the other, and sleeps with models in between. Why does he restrict himself, a fighter for moral freedom does not understand, he sends a psychoanalyst Boris (Timur Badalbeyli), sent to impose on his patients, and at the same time on himself, a social framework, on a long journey by obscene language.

What did the directors think about before the film premiered?

Such an antipode of the hero Kolokolnikov included Merkulova and Chupov in the film "Intimate Places". Actors and roles caused a reaction, which the filmmakers themselves did not expect. The colorful image of Lyudmila Petrovna, exposing hypocrisy, hypocrisy and total loneliness, became a real protest against the experimental ideas of some members of the Russian State Duma.

Her somewhat caricature figure appeared initially to the film project producers Bakur Bakuradze and Yulia Mishkinene "greetings" from the Soviet Union, despite the fact that Merkulova and Chupov found several committees on morality in modern Russia. Wives of Ivan Svetlana and Sayan, performed by Olesya Sudzilovskaya and Dinara Yankovskaya respectively, exuding a bloodthirsty dislike for each other, can cause at least perplexity.

In the house of the photographer, almost medieval orders were established. Inconspicuous Sayan plays the role of a slaughtered servant, something reminiscent of the modern Cinderella, which the stately red-haired Svetlana, like an evil princess from Disney fairy tales, reads for every speck of dust in the house. The heroine of Sudzilovskaya also has responsibilities, undoubtedly, more significant. Svetlana is Ivan's personal PR agent, but despite her status, she spends nights alone, listening to the monotone creaking of the bed from the next room. Both women are unhappy in their own way. But the culmination of their humiliation reaches when Ivan ceases to be limited only to the bodies of his spouses, and the emotional explosion after such a turn to the heroes can not be avoided.

Sudzilovskaya and Yankovskaya managed to create both tension and drama. The denouement of this plot line is devoid of ordinary motifs, as well as the whole composition of the film set of Russian directors.

No less strange love triangle appears before the audience when the characters of Alexei Chupov, Ekaterina Shcheglova and Pavel Artemyev appear on the stage. And in a secluded corner of the house, a young woman keeps a notebook in which she desperately tries to keep the memory of her unborn children, gluing photos from ultrasound examinations to the pages. Below them, Eve signs the names that she so dreamed of giving to them.

Everything will change when the threshold of the couple's home is crossed by a young magician-circus, whose role was performed by the former lead singer of the band "Roots" Pavel Artemiev. After all, both spouses fall in love with a charming guy. And then a real tragedy will begin.

And when will the spectator laugh?

But not only the drama act in the film actors. "Intimate places" - a film that allows you to laugh. The story of Alexei and Olga, played by Nikita Tarasov and Ksenia Katymalova, is permeated with comicism from beginning to end.

Like all movie characters, the spouses suffer from their own particular problems: the wife from inattention to her husband, and the husband from his own sexual impotence in bed. Alex, consciously passed from the beautiful girls to the big saleswomen, now can not take her eyes off the immense Albina. Whether he will decide on treason and how his relationship with his wife will develop, the viewer will know when he finishes the movie.

Nikita Tarasov managed to create an eccentric and slightly ridiculous image of a family man confused in his problems. This role brought the actor true success. Immediately after the premiere of the film "Intimate Places" he was invited to the historical production "Battle for Sevastopol".
