"5 nok" is an effective antimicrobial drug that has a fairly wide spectrum of action. The drug is active against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, in addition, for some subspecies of fungi, such as dermatophytes, candida and mold fungi.

The medicine is rapidly absorbed from the stomach, and within one and a half hours after its administration its maximum concentration is achieved. The drug is metabolized in the liver, and is excreted by the kidneys and bile ducts. After taking in the urine, note the increased concentration. Apply the drug "5 nok" for the treatment of both acute and chronic infections of the genitourinary tract caused by microorganisms sensitive to nitroxoline. Basically, it is prescribed for the treatment of pyelonephritis, urethritis, epididymitis, infected adenoma, prostate carcinoma. The drug "5 nok" with cystitis also showed high efficiency. Prescribe this medicine and for the prevention of infections in the period after operations on the genitourinary tract and kidneys, as well as in such diagnostic medical procedures as catheterization and cystoscopy. Sometimes the drug is taken to prevent the recurrence of infections in the urinary tract.

The active substance of the drug "5 nok" is nitroxoxoline. It also contains various auxiliary substances. Produced in the form of tablets of 50 milligrams, coated with a shell. Tablets are usually contained in a plastic bottle, in an amount of 50 pieces. They are round, convex on both sides, shiny and covered with an orange shell.

Usually the drug "5 nok" is recommended to take 500 milligrams per day, that is, 2 tablets 4 times a day. The dose can be increased to 800 milligrams per day. For children over the age of five, it is recommended to take 300 milligrams, for children between the ages of three and five, 200 milligrams. Tablets should be taken before meals. The standard course of treatment can last from two to four weeks, if necessary, therapy can be continued, but intermittent courses. Patients who suffer moderate renal failure or liver failure should reduce the standard dose by half.

Some side effects may occur with the use of the drug. On the part of the digestive system, it is vomiting and nausea, increased activity of hepatic transaminases. From the side of the nervous system, paresthesia, ataxia, headache and polyneuropathy may occur. In rare cases, tachycardia can occur. It is also possible the occurrence of allergies in the form of skin rashes. There were also cases of thrombocytopenia and increased levels of uric acid in the blood.

The drug is categorically contraindicated in cataracts, the last degree of renal insufficiency, high sensitivity to any of its components, and especially to nitroxoline and quinolines. You can not assign it to children under three years old. The preparation "5 nok" during pregnancy and lactation is also not prescribed, as it is contraindicated and carries a risk to the health of the child. Due to the medication, urine can acquire a yellowish-red hue, this is normal. Do not prescribe the drug "5 nok" simultaneously with drugs that contain hydroxyquinoline or its derivatives. In the case of using the drug in patients who have impaired renal function, the constant monitoring of a qualified specialist is needed. Without examination of the liver and kidneys, it is not possible to prescribe treatment courses lasting more than 4 weeks. There is no data on any effect on the ability to control machinery and vehicles. Store the drug in a place that is not accessible to children at room temperature. Usually the drug has a shelf life of five years.
