The climate of France and its features

The climate of France differs in different regions of the country. The main reason is that its influence is exerted simultaneously by the Mediterranean, continental, alpine and Atlantic zones. Each of them is distinguished by the uniqueness of its fauna and flora, the diversity of natural landscapes.

Some features

Speaking about the climate in France, it is necessary to note some of its features. In most of the country, the sensation of air temperature differs markedly from those displayed on the thermometer. For example, in winter, when the thermometer is at +4 o C, it seems that there is frost in the street. This "unfair" feeling of cold is associated with high humidity. In the summer the situation is completely changing: at a relatively low temperature of air, the stuffiness is very significant. Then we will talk about how the climate in France differs by months and seasons.

Spring

In March, the weather in the country is somewhat volatile. The temperature gradually rises (up to +12 о С), however, rains continue to go quite often.

April is considered one of the most romantic periods in the country. The fact is that warmer days are increasing, although prolonged rains are also typical for most of the territory.

The climate in France in May is favorable for the beginning of the beach season. On the Mediterranean coast, the average temperature reaches +27 ° C. Precipitation falls very rarely and at this time only spring freshness is brought.

Summer

June is considered one of the most favorable months for a holiday in France. While the air temperature averages about +30 о С, the water in the sea warms up to +23 о С. In the north it is slightly cooler, however, the arrival of the summer is already felt completely.

July is the sunniest and hottest period of the year. Rains at this time are very rare in all regions of the state. Despite the high temperature of the air in the daytime, at night there is a slight coolness. It should be noted that all local beaches in this month there is a full house.

August is characterized by calm and warm weather. At this time, the heat transfer is not so difficult as in the previous month, although the temperature indicators remain similar. End of summer is characterized by a rare precipitation.

Autumn

The climate of France in September is characterized by a gradual decrease in the average monthly air temperature. At this time ends the holiday season, so the inhabitants of the country slowly return to a calm and measured life. Cool wind and rain disturb more often. As for the air temperature, it is about +20 o C.

October is characterized by a further cooling. Moreover, at the end of the month the rainy season begins.

In November, the average monthly temperature drops to the level of +7 о С, the early arrival of winter is felt more and more. The weather is rather dull, damp and rainy.

Winter

December is characterized by rainy and wet weather. At the beginning of winter, a strong north wind blows throughout France. The air temperature averages about +4 o C. At this time, the first snow falls, which, however, does not last long.

January is the rainiest month of the year, therefore the climate of France at this time is characterized by high humidity. The temperature in most regions is about 0 ° C, although on the southern coast of the country can reach the level of +13 ° C.

For February, the lowest temperatures are typical. The end of winter is accompanied by frequent winds and precipitation in the form of snow, which lingers on the ground for a long time. The air temperature is in the range from -3 ... -1 о С.

Climate in different regions of France

If we consider the climate of France and its change by region, then we can see the following picture.

In the north of the state it is soft and moist. This area is not characterized by a strong temperature fluctuation. In particular, if in the summer the column of the thermometer rises not higher than +26 о С, then in winter the temperature is +16 о С on average. Except it can be called unless the mountainous and northeastern regions, which are characterized by mild winters and warm summers. In the north-west, the influence of the Atlantic is felt, so there is a lot of precipitation in the form of rain, often blowing the west wind. The lowest mean annual temperature fluctuations are typical for Brittany.

The central part of the country is characterized by a rather hot summer and a relatively mild, wet winter. The temperature maximum here is about +25 о С, and the minimum is 0 о С. The annual amount of precipitation varies from 600 to 1000 mm per year. At the same time this figure is twice as high on the western mountain slopes.

The climate in the south of France is formed under the influence of the Mediterranean zone. The region is characterized by low annual precipitation and a high average temperature. Frosts in this area are extremely rare. For about a hundred days a year a cool dry wind blows here, known as the mistral.

The island of Corsica is the hottest region of the state. In summer, the thermometer's column here rises to a mark of +27 о С degrees. However, the winter here is pretty cool.

The eastern regions of the country are characterized by a transitional type of climate from maritime to temperate continental.

The elevated regions of France have a mountain climate with cold and long winters. As the height increases, the average annual rainfall also increases. In winter, the air temperature in the Alpine regions drops to -2 о С, and in the summer reaches +17 о С degrees of heat.
