Subaru Forester 2013: the next generation of compact crossover
For the first time, Subaru Forester 2013 was presented at the Tokyo Motor Show in November 2012. The car, which has been produced since 1997, has changed quite a lot in 16 years. Changes have touched both the exterior design and the inner filling of the compact crossover. Compared to the previous third generation, the new Subaru Forester has received large dimensions: 4595 mm - length, 1695 mm - height, 1975 mm - width, 2640 mm - wheelbase. This positively affected the volume of the luggage space (which can be increased by lowering the rear seats) and the size of the cabin.
The new generation of the crossover has increased the rigidity of the body for torsion and bending, which had a positive effect on the smooth running and handling of the car. According to the manufacturer, the car upgraded the suspension, which allowed to achieve the optimal combination of qualities inherent in a car and SUV.
The Subaru Forester 2013 engine line consists of one diesel and three petrol engines. The two-liter diesel has a capacity of 147 hp. And is installed with a six-speed manual gearbox or a variator. Subaru Forester's petrol engines have the following characteristics: the 2-liter has 150 hp, 2.5 l - 170 hp, 2 l turbo, depending on the market, it can produce 280 hp. (Japan), 250 hp (USA), 241 hp (Europe). Opposite petrol engine with direct injection and turbocharging is installed only with a variator. For atmospheric engines, there are two options: a variator and a six-speed mechanics. A feature of the new Lineartronic variator for the Subaru Forester 2013 is the availability of eight virtual gears for manual gear changes.
Drive the machine full (Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive). To control the company's "symmetrical" all-wheel drive, the car is equipped with an intelligent electronic system X-Mode, in the case of activation of which the operation of the transmission, the VDC and the engine are coordinated centrally. According to the developers, its use allows the owner of the car to drive more confidently on an uneven, unfamiliar or slippery road.
The interior of the fourth generation car has changed significantly. The front dashboard is borrowed from Subaru Impreza, the quality of materials used for interior trim has been improved. Among the elements of electronics should be noted infotainment system with navigation, rear camera to facilitate parking, high-quality acoustics from Harman / Kardon. The car is equipped with wheels 225/55 R18 or 225/60 R17 with discs of light alloys with the original design. And there is another nice detail, the doors of the car are arranged so that their lower edge closes the thresholds, so that, sitting down in Forester, you can not be afraid of staining your trousers.
