Stormwater well: device and cleaning
A stormwater well is located in the local area with the purpose of removing excess water, which is formed during melting snow and as a result of rain. As one of the components of the storm sewage system is a rainwater well, which includes:
- Neck;
- Mine;
- Cover.
The stormwater well has a throat through which water enters the shaft. After the precipitation can be used. The well is protected by a lid to exclude the possibility of ingress of human and foreign objects.
Varieties
Storm well can be made of plastic or concrete. The most common in the latter case is reinforced concrete. Depending on the purpose, the wells can be divided into:
- Absorbing;
- Reception rooms;
- Are different.
Description of wells
The first variety of wells is called still filtering. Such designs are devoid of a bottom, because they are located on a site below the occurrence of groundwater. The liquid that enters the absorption well goes into the ground. The receiving well of storm sewage is designed for areas where groundwater is located quite high.
The fluid entering this structure can be used in the next stage for irrigation of the territory. In order to extract water from such a well, pumps are used. Differential shower well is installed where there are impressive land drops. Such designs allow to exclude the flow of water, which would be able to disable the system.
The device of a storm well
For the reason that such a well can be made of plastic or reinforced concrete, the installation technology of these structures is different. In the case of a plastic product, a corrugated pipe or a well of the desired diameter is prepared in the first stage. To carry out the work, you should take care of the availability of:
- Rubber sealant;
- Mastics;
- Sealant;
- Concrete solution;
- Gravel or sand.
If required, you need to prepare a plastic bottom. Sealants will be needed to ensure the reliability of the joint elements. And for additional protection of these places, you should use a sealant. To strengthen the connection of the shaft to the bottom, you can use mastic.
The well of storm water can be represented by a corrugated pipe. For the installation, a foundation pit and trenches for pipe laying are prepared. The soil from below is strengthened with fine gravel or sand. Holes are made in the corrugated pipe, which will be necessary to connect the pipes.
Using a rubber seal, piping must be connected. The joints are treated with a sealant. If the well has a bottom, then it is fixed to a concrete base. In the next step, you can proceed with the installation of the corrugated pipe.
The bottom and the pipe at the junction are treated with mastic, it is desirable to use the one that is made on the basis of bitumen. Throughout the perimeter walls of the well are covered with gravel, and then - with earth. At the final stage, a protective cover is installed, located on top of the shaft. The well can be made independently of plastic rings or corrugated pipes, this approach will save you money.
Construction of a reinforced concrete well
If the well is made of reinforced concrete, then it will be much more difficult to install than the plastic one. To carry out the work you will need:
- Concrete rings;
- Cement mortar;
- Concrete slab;
- Hoisting equipment.
The bottom of the well will be a stove. To seal joints, in addition to cement mortar, it is necessary to prepare plaster and bitumen. At the first stage, it is necessary to excavate a pit and trenches for pipelines. A concrete slab is installed on the bottom. As an alternative solution is the casting of the base from the concrete mix. The foundation and rings are treated with bitumen, which significantly extends the life of the products.
As soon as the plate dries, it is possible to start the installation of the rings, and there is no way to do without lifting equipment. It is important to exclude distortions. The joints between the rings are treated with cement mortar and bitumen. After the drying of these materials, the finishing of the walls with plaster should be done.
At the bottom of the well, sand should be poured. Backfill uses soil. All layers are compacted with a special technique or shovel. The well is closed by a lid at the final stage, and a blind is around it. Its width should be 150 cm or more. This will strengthen the structure.
Distribution well arrangement
The distribution well of storm sewer is usually a container of durable fiberglass, which often has reinforced walls. This construction is provided with inlet and outlet ducts. The container is closed with a lid. The channel for the input is usually one, whereas the output channels must be two, they are organized at different levels.
The distribution well is provided with a vent pipe. A design is intended for the distribution of water and the supply of liquids to treatment facilities. Inside the hull, a ladder is provided for easy maintenance. The well has a diameter that is usually 60 cm. This allows you to install a sewage manhole from above. It is structurally possible to install a plastic hatch. This is true for the case when the well is located on a green area.
Drainage well
The drainage well for storm sewage is located in places where moisture accumulates most often, here you can include depressions in the ground, as well as a site under the drainpipe. Such a reservoir has the form of a vertical drainage pipe, into which ground and surface waters enter. The design capacity is rather high.
If it is a question of linear storm sewage, then in this case the walls of the drainage well are further reinforced with concrete rings. However, considering the issue from the point of view of economy, it should be emphasized that the most advantageous variant of the mine is a plastic well in the form of a structure with drained pipes. The walls are strengthened by casing pipes, whose diameter varies from 300 to 400 mm.
Carrying out the cleaning
You already know the structure of the storm well, this was discussed above. However, for proper operation it is important to know not only this. Experts recommend that you familiarize yourself with the cleaning features. The described system requires care. After all, it can be clogged with sediments and accumulated debris. Manipulation can be carried out in the following ways:
- Thermal;
- Chemical;
- Hydrodynamic;
- Mechanical.
The mechanical method is most often used to clean individual systems. It provides for manual removal of dirt from gutters, rainwater gutters, drainage channels and liquid cleaning systems. For this, you can use brooms, mops and special devices with lugs.
The hydrodynamic method for cleaning the wells is also quite common. It involves the use of high-pressure technology. The destruction of blockages is carried out under the influence of a stream of water. Cleaning of storm water wells in this way involves the use of household pumps that supply water from a source, as it can be a specialized equipment.
The thermal method differs from the above described in that water enters the canal under high pressure and with a high temperature ranging from 120 to 140 ° C. The advantage of this approach is the possibility of cleaning the system from dirt and debris, as well as fat deposits.
Conclusion
The reservoir described above acts as the final point to be put in the arrangement of the surface drainage system. Considering varieties of such structures, it is necessary to distinguish receiving storm wells. They are installed where the groundwater is high. In this well comes water, which can then be used to irrigate plants. The principle of operation of such a system is the accumulation of liquid and its subsequent use.
