Ski resorts in Sweden. Sweden: ski centers and slopes

Fans of winter sports in recent years increasingly choose ski resorts in Sweden. This trend is due to the fact that this northern country has established itself as an excellent place for active holidays.

Why Sweden?

There are all conditions for comfortable rest of people of different age category:

  • Trails for beginners and professionals;
  • Snow cover from November to May (while in spring many countries have almost no snow);
  • Conformity of resorts to the international standards;
  • Special lifts for children;
  • Snowmobiles and well-equipped bobsleigh and snowboard tracks;
  • Theme parks with fairy-tale characters that will please the little guests of the country;
  • Schools for teaching skiing for children and adults;
  • Cozy recreation centers and secluded forest cottages;
  • Various entertainments: riding on "Viking horses", deer and dog sleds, sleigh; Excursion to the confectionery factory; A trip to the Tannsforsen waterfall - the largest in Sweden; Ice fishing; Snowmobile safaris; Dinner in the forest hut.

Sweden: ski resorts and slopes

The most popular holiday destination for lovers of skiing is Ore - located at the foot of the picturesque mountains covered with pine forest, the resort is a complex of four villages (Bjornen, Ore, Tegefjell, Dyuved), which are connected by a bus route. You can skate on any route, regardless of which of the settlements you live in. The central part of the complex was the town of Ore, which began to develop the tourist infrastructure at the end of the XIX century (in 1895 the first hotel was built - "Oregorden").

The resort is famous for the best system of lifts in Europe, a large number of routes of different levels (more than 120), the length of which is about 89 kilometers. Trails for beginners ("green" and "blue") are at the foot of the mountains, for more experienced skiers ("red", "black") - at the top of the slopes. There are also safe ski tracks for children. There are also so-called virgin slopes, designed for fans of extreme sports.

Advantages of the resort

The advantage of the resort is its location - surrounded by mountains, Ore is protected from strong winds, and the temperature here is often 4-5 degrees higher than in other resorts. The beginning of the ski season falls on the first half of November, and it lasts until the end of April and beginning of May. "Scandinavian Alps" - even under this name is known ski resort Ore. Sweden rightfully can be proud of it, because every year here comes a huge number of people who want to relax from everyday bustle, plunge into the snowy world of the northern beauty, riding a reindeer team and having tasted freshly smoked salmon.

A highlight of Ore is the opportunity to contemplate the resort in the light of evening lights, because four times a week, in the midst of the season, there is a night lift that operates from 18:00 to 21:00. Therefore, lovers of unusual sensations can, in addition to day skiing, try their hand at a darker time of the day.

Infrastructure of the resort

Ski resorts in Sweden are notable for a variety of infrastructure, designed for both adults and children.

If you travel with a child and you have nowhere to leave it for the ride, you can be calm and boldly go to the village of Bjernen: there is an excellent kindergarten in which you can leave your child at the age of 4 years in the care of English speaking educators. In addition, a special school for beginners skiers will save you from the need to spend time and effort on teaching your child the wisdoms of this sport. And the game form and various techniques, developed specifically for small skiers, will make the learning process entertaining and interesting.

What else is remarkable for the ski resort of Ore? Sweden, including in the villages that make up this complex, practices such a layout of hotels, in which two-tiered beds are replaced by double beds instead of double beds to save space and heating. This approach allows us to reduce the cost of living. The hotels themselves are classified to a greater extent as two and three stars, which, however, does not prevent to receive good quality of service from the host party.

In addition, the "mountain" hotels have an excellent location relative to the trails, lifts and the center of the boiling life of the resort. When the light day comes to an end, and skiers do not know what to do with themselves, the so-called après-ski arrives to the rescue - gatherings at the bar after a busy day. During April-ski, skiers have fun as they can-sing songs, dance, play board games, just communicate and exchange impressions.

What is a ski pass?

It is worth noting that an important part of the trip to the ski resorts of Sweden (and not only here) is a ski pass - a kind of pass, a subscription that allows you to get to the ski lift, use the trails of any level, and also take a bus plying between the villages. Children under the age of 7 years with a helmet can ride free of charge. Ski passes can be purchased both at the hotel and directly at the ski lifts themselves.

In case you do not have your own equipment, you can easily rent it or buy it at special points or shops (the ski resorts of Sweden in this matter do not lag behind other winter rest places) located near hotels or ski lifts. There is a system where you can take equipment at one point (where you start to ride), and to pass in another (where the skating is over) is convenient and saves the time and power of skiers.

Ski resorts in Sweden: Idre Fjell and Funesdalen

Less known, but still worthwhile to go here, are the resorts of Idra Fjell and Funesdalen. The first of them is far from the capital of Sweden - almost 500 kilometers. But it will be comfortable for newcomers of skiing and children. Cottage villages, located within walking distance from the slopes and ski lifts, attract guests to Idra Fjell with comfort and cordial reception.

The largest sports complex of Swedish resorts, which has a bowling alley, tennis court, swimming pool, gymnasium will please tourists after an active day in the mountains. Idre Fjellum really is proud of Sweden. Schemes of ski resorts clearly demonstrate the development and versatility of the tourist structure of the region.

In search of adventure: Funesdalen

One of the most remote resorts in Sweden - Funesdalen - is located 580 kilometers from Stockholm. Despite such remoteness, the resort in recent years has attracted an increasing number of holidaymakers. Excellent slopes, the best plain trails in the country, beautiful snow cover guarantee an excellent pastime.

Funesdalen consists of three ski centers: Funodalbergeta, Tänndalen and Ramundberget. From entertainment are presented such exciting options as flying a helicopter to the top of the mountain, from where you need to go down yourself; Ice climbing; Safari on musky bulls and seals. Agree, classes for the sophisticated and thrill-loving guests of the resort.
