Classic Rileys are very beautiful. Their body is completely transparent, the tail and cephalothorax are yellow, bright red, black or orange. On the belly often there is a carp, which corresponds to the main dominant color. Female lengths reach 2.5 cm, and males 2 cm.

Shrimp Riley: content

Riley, as well as other shrimp, prefer pure filtered water, in which nitrites, nitrates, ammonia and ammonium should be absent.

Filter the water best with a bio filter. Water in the aquarium must be changed every week. Copper compounds should not fall into it, otherwise shrimps will quickly die. The life span of the aquarium shrimp is about 2-3 years.

Riley prefers rich vegetation and soft litter of moss. Ideally suitable for dark soil, such as gravel. If there is no suitable soil, then on the already existing one you can put almond leaves, which have exquisite chocolate color.

The aquarium is desirable to purchase a volume of more than 10 liters, the water temperature should be approximately 20-28 degrees, the pH from 6.0 to 8.0. Shrimp mainly live in small groups of 15-20 individuals. Riley gets on well with friendly little fish.

Food

Riley shrimps feed on algae, dead plants, the remains of fish food, mud. Riley can be fed with a special food, such as Bio Max, spinach or nettle leaves, which are pre-emptied with boiling water. Feed shrimps in small portions, they should not overeat. It is recommended to feed prawns once a day. Once a week you can not feed. It does not harm them, so they purify their body. Rily can be kept with other species.

Reproduction

Riley shrimps cross with each other, as well as with other species. After several generations, the original pale gray predominates in the color of shrimps. If all the conditions are met, the shrimps themselves actively multiply. The gestation period is 3-4 weeks. First, the females carry the eggs - this can be seen by the appearance of a light spot on the back of the shrimp.

Further under the tail, the eggs are incubated. If the eggs are visible, then the female will soon drop the babies. Eggs of yellow color. On average, the female brings offspring of 30-40 fully formed small shrimps, which are an exact copy of the parents and are ready for independent existence.

Small shrimps do not require separate care and nutrition. The sizes of the born individuals are 1-2 mm. After 4-5 months, Riley shrimps become sexually mature.

In comparison with the female, the male is thin and small in size. Female Riley have a more intense color, unlike males.

Survival of the offspring is very large, so Riley is great for beginners aquarists. The environment, and in particular the soil, strongly affects the color of the shrimp. Riley will have a bright color if there is a solid ground in the aquarium.

The shrimps of this species are very entertaining creatures - they are curious and friendly. For the whole day they swim around the aquarium, cleaning the plants and collecting the remains of the food.

In general, this is a rather interesting and beautiful kind of shrimp. Riley (aquarium shrimp) will be an excellent choice for those who are just beginning to be interested in aquarium.
