Early years and the beginning of a career

Nikolay Karachentsov is a native Muscovite. His father worked as a graphic artist, and his mother as a choreographer. In such a creative family, a gifted child must have been born - and it happened.

Nikolai grew up an artistic boy. He showed interest in music. In high school Kolya became addicted to amateur theater and took an active part in amateur performances.

At the Moscow Art Theater School, Karachentsov entered the first time, which is a great success. During his studies, Nikolai managed to excel and become one of the best students. After graduating from the university, the young man was distributed to Lenkom, in which he later worked his whole life.

After a string of little-known films now ("The Elder Son", "The Magic Lantern"), Nikolai Karachentsov received a prominent role in Jan Fried's musical comedy "A Dog in the Manger". It was 1977, and Karachentsov played the Marquis of Ricardo, in love with Countess Diana.

Partners of Karachentsov on the set were such stars of Soviet cinema as Mikhail Boyarsky, Margarita Terekhova, Igor Dmitriev, Armen Dzhigarkhanyan and many others. This role made the actor famous throughout the Soviet Union.

Further, Yan Frid invited Nikolai Petrovich to one of his screen productions - "Pious Marta". 80's began for the actor from work on the legendary performance of Mark Zakharov's "Juno and Avos". Initially, Nikolai Karachentsov played Count Rezanov (the main role) in the theatrical version of the rock opera, which was on display at the Lenkom. However, the performance was so popular that in 1983 his television version was created. Subsequently, Pierre Cardin saw this opera and promoted its popularization in France. Soon the troupe Lenkom and, of course, Karachentsov went on a European tour, showing "Juno and Avos" on the best theatrical stages of the USA, Germany and Holland.

What is it about the rock opera "Juno and Avos"? Karachentsov plays in the production of Count Rezanov, who in 1806 leads to the shores of America two ships with the same name. Its goal is to establish trade relations between California and the Russian Empire. In California, Rezanov has an affair with the daughter of a famous Spanish colonist. They are secretly crowned in spite of all the gossip, but Rezanov needs to go on the return journey. The beloved promises the Count that he will wait for his return. She waited for him for thirty years, not even suspecting that Rezanov had died on his way to Russia.

Undoubted hits in the later filmography of the actor are the films "Battalions ask for fire", "Man from the Boulevard des Capucines" and the crime film "Deja vu". In 2005 Karachentsov got into a serious accident, after which he recovered for a long time.
