Air locks, or what are the clouds

Each of us watched the clouds, for how they suddenly appear in the sky and then swim, changing their form: it's a dog, then a fish, then a castle with turrets, then a caravan of camels. So, let's understand what kind of clouds there are.

Different, but at the same time, the same

Cumulus clouds. Metamorphoses occur precisely with them. These are snow-white clouds that grow right before our eyes. They are called "messengers of good weather." But is it only good? Of course not! They, as well as any others, carry both showers and rains, but, truth, short-term. Cirrus clouds are the faithful messengers of rain. If you saw them, then two days later wait for the rain. They are thin and translucent, appearance resembling feathers. The sun and the moon shine through them. They are replaced by other clouds, which are lowered lower and lower ... They are layered and rain, the clouds are full of water very much. In mountainous areas, they descend so low that everything around is immersed in a ghostly fog. "Lentils". Some clouds have such an unusual shape that they can easily be mistaken for UFOs. Only this "object" does not fly. These are absolutely calm, still clouds. Even the wind will not make them move! Another name for them is torpedoes. I think it's not worth explaining that they were nicknamed them because of the striking similarity with the shape of the torpedo, dolphin or any other oblong object of a streamlined shape. Often over the mountains you can see a cloudy "fluttering flag". This is due to the air sweeping over the top, covered with snow, which then cools and condenses. Water vapor, which is in the air, begins to thicken into a cloud, similar to the flag through which air flows. If you stand under this "flag", you will experience certain sensations ...

Speaking of what kind of clouds there are, it should be noted that "lentils" and "fluttering flags" is an indisputable sign of weather deterioration. "Torpedoes" is an invasion of "foreign" air, accompanied by hurricanes, rains, snowstorms and heavy snow!

Not everything is gold that glitters ...

A unique natural phenomenon is clouds with silvery luster. Admire them in the photo. These clouds were first observed by the famous St. Petersburg astronomer Tserarsky in the 19th century. Science for a long time could not determine what kind of "fruit" such, and what are the clouds of this species yet. Only when it became possible to follow them from space, much cleared up. It is proved that they arise due to thin particles from the Earth and micrometeorites flying from space. All this plays the role of condensation nuclei for moisture, which rises high above the planet. By the way, there are other opinions as to what are the clouds of silvery color. For example, some scientists claim that they can be formed by particles of volcanic dust. This version got a life after the most powerful eruption of the volcano Krakatoa. Other scientists say that these are very small particles of a meteorite substance that has invaded the atmosphere of our planet. In favor of this theory is the fact that after the fall of the so-called Tunguska meteorite in different parts of our planet, one could admire bright silvery clouds.
