Route E105: description, name, features and reviews

The route, bearing the European name E105, passes through three countries and stretches for more than three thousand kilometers. The motorist, who decided to drive along this road from start to finish, awaits a lot of impressions from the beautiful landscapes and amazing cities passing by.

Name

Residents of Russia and the post-Soviet space, this route is known as the E95. The new name of the route E105 was after the reform on the numbering of European roads. But not long before that, Alisa's song "Track E95" came out, which instantly became a hit, and in the memory of the majority of Russians thanks to the composition it is associated with the old name.

Main characteristics

The E105 route originates in Norway, then passes through the Russian Federation to Ukraine, and then leads to the Crimea peninsula, thereby again returning to Russia.

The length of the route is 3770 km.

Big cities

E105 - a route that passes through three countries and crosses dozens of major cities and hundreds of small towns. The main points of this route in the direction from Norway to the Crimea are: Kirkenes, Murmansk, Petrozavodsk, Petersburg, Veliky Novgorod, Tver, Solnechnogorsk, Moscow, Tula, Eagle, Belgorod, Kharkov, Zaporozhye, Simferopol, Alushta, Yalta. The European route connected the largest cities and administrative centers on its way.

Coincidence of roads

The European classification and numbering of roads differs from the generally accepted in the territory of the Russian Federation, therefore one and the same interval of the E105 route can bear one more name, familiar to Russians. There are several such coincidences. The road connecting Murmansk and Petersburg, in Russia is called M18 or "Kola". According to the European numbering, this is E105.

Next is a route called P10, it starts from the Pogranichnoye Highway and leads to Pechenga. Immediately after it follows a segment of the route E105 between Pechenga and Murmansk, which carries the Russian name A118. And already everyone knows the former route E95, and now M10, which goes from Petersburg to Moscow and back. The route under the simple name "Crimea" or M2 runs from Moscow to the Ukrainian border. Then Е105 goes further on the territory of Ukraine. Completely coincides with the M20, leading traffic flows from the border with the Russian Federation to Kharkov. Then E105 partially coincides with the roads M18, M03, E40. This segment of the road connects Kharkiv and Yalta.

High-speed sections

E105 - a route that crosses three states, merges with many other routes and roads on its way, passes through hundreds of small settlements, dozens of large cities and some historical monuments. Despite all this, there are three high-speed sections on the highway.

  1. St. Petersburg. On the ring road around St. Petersburg vehicles are allowed to develop a speed of up to 110 km per hour. This is an undoubted advantage of this route, the condition of the road allows you to travel at such a speed, but, unfortunately, the Ring Road is often overloaded with traffic. And so there are cases of congestion.
  2. Tula region. This is a toll motorway, but travel on it for the present time is a mere penny - some 60 p. This highway begins immediately after the congress from the Moscow Ring Road and ends at the border of the Tula and Orel regions. The road completely passes through the Tula region and allows to avoid entry to the territory of Klimovsk, Chekhov, Serpukhov. Undeniable advantage is not only in speed, but also in quality of coating. Paid highway will help to avoid the inconvenience of driving along the old highway, passing a bit to the side, which in the common people is called - the "old Crimean route."
  3. Kharkov - Novomoskovsk. The motorway starts at the intersection of two E40 and M03 trails. It is located 9.5 km from the Kharkov circuit road. And it ends not in Novomoskovsk itself, but on its bypass road. This leaves the city out of the way. This new route also leaves aside other Ukrainian cities: Merefu, Krasnograd, Pereshchepino. According to rough calculations of engineers, this highway helps save about two hours of travel. This part of the route was opened relatively recently, in 2008, by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko. The high-speed section was built according to all European standards and is now in a satisfactory condition. Earlier it was planned to extend it up to Simferopol, but to date these intentions have remained at the development stage.

Hazardous sites

The most dangerous and overloaded sections of the route are:

  • Part of the road from St. Petersburg to the capital. There are always congestions that can detain motorists for more than one hour, especially in the summer.
  • MKAD. Here traffic jams are a permanent phenomenon and firmly entrenched. The Moscow Ring Road is known for all and all traffic congestion.
  • Turn to Kirilovka (Ukraine). From Melitopol, the route crosses the road of territorial importance, leading to the popular resort village of Kirilovka, which attracts a lot of attention to tourists in the summer.

The E105 route, reviews of which appear on car forums every day, of course, are not entirely perfect. There are places and stretches of road that have a large number of potholes and holes, but they do not reach a critical level of danger. Traffic is trying to maintain in a suitable for a comfortable ride the state representatives of all countries in whose territory it passes.

Refueling

On the highway E105 refueling, of course, as on any other highway, not uncommon. Today, hardly any driver has a fuel shortage problem. Refueling waits for their customers literally on every corner. From the Russian gas stations on the highway there are the largest representatives of such large companies as Lukoil, Neft Magistral, Gazpromneft, Tatneft, Rosneft, and Surgutneftegaz. And dozens more that are not so popular and known to both Russian residents and foreign guests.

The work on improvement and improvement of the route on its different sections is conducted from year to year so that motorists feel confident and safe on it. European standards and opportunities are not standing still. They are constantly rising and increasing, so the E105 will remain in good condition for a long time and will be at the level with other similar highways.
