Even then he accompanied his masters on a hunt, attacking tapirs, martens, deer, wild boars, mongooses, and guarding shelter from snakes. Later Thai ridgebacks followed the owners' wagons and guarded their property on the road. Due to the isolation of some areas of Thailand, these dogs retained their primitive appearance.
