Proverbs can be considered parables transmitted in one short phrase. Unlike sayings, they may not have a beautiful syllable and consonance, since their main purpose is to convey to other people the people's experience in various spheres of human activity.

The centuries-old observations of people on the interrelationship of the way of life and its duration are passed on in popular proverbs. Since ancient times, people have been careful about their health, because they knew that they should bring the community benefits as long as possible. Even the old men tried to be useful, engaged in the upbringing and teaching of children, while their parents were in the field or on the hunt.

Proverbs about the rules of healthy eating, about the mobile way of life, the constant training of the body were welcomed and encouraged in folk art. Expressions such as "Temper the body for the good of the cause", "Walking on foot - for a long time", show the attitude of simple hard-working people to a healthy lifestyle. These proverbs are motivators that encouraged people from early childhood to move more, pour cold water and not be afraid of cold.

In addition to encouragement, the people are very fond of warning against the wrong way of life and thought, for example, "You are not getting enough sleep - you lose your health", "From the one who foul language, health goes away," "It is sweet to eat and drink - to walk on doctors".

Peasants noticed that the sweet had a bad effect on the physical condition. In Russia, white bread, gingerbread, and sweets ate only for large church holidays, and from natural sweets preferred healthy berries and jelly from them.

Ancient people gratefully treated the gifts of nature and their work. This was manifested in proverbs dedicated to work in the field and simple peasant food. It was taken before the meal to give thanks to God for the food that stands on the table ("God gave a mouth, give and a piece"), as well as harvest, the sun and spring ("Spring is feeding the year").

Proverbs about the rules of healthy eating were passed from grandfathers to grandchildren, indicating how to live to be healthy and strong. This involved not only the food itself or its components. People often noticed that it can still be detrimental to health - this is an inappropriate diet.

Proverbs about useful vegetables

By eating certain foods, a person watched the result of their influence on their body. "Eat garlic and onions - will not take ailment," - said in the people and were right. Even the ancient Sumerians and Egyptians knew about the useful properties of these vegetables. In Ancient Egypt, onions and garlic were put in tombs so that the deceased could use their medicinal properties in the other world. Also these plants were sacrificed to the gods, giving people a rich harvest.

"Onions treat seven ailment," - such a conclusion was made by a wise people. Even in ancient Greece, this vegetable was revered as a source of strength and energy. He was given to the soldiers before the battle, and the onion's ability to evoke tears turned him into a talisman from the evil eye.

Sayings about harmful food

The people believed that the onion is the food of the poor, and they could observe how the rich are adversely affected by the fact that they disdained this vegetable. Disease among the poor happened much less often than among wealthy residents. "The disease is looking for fatty food," say the people, and this is completely true.

Poor people believed that fatty food suppresses the spirit and takes away strength, causes the body to grow stout and become decrepit. The popular wisdom in such proverbs shows the attitude of hard-working people who earn their bread by work and then, to unhealthy and harmful food ("Bitter treat, but cripple sweet").

Much later, when writing appeared, people who saw in folk art not only the teachings, but also the centuries-old wisdom, went around the villages and wrote proverbs for future generations. After they began to print, and nowadays they teach at the lessons of folk art in schools. Thanks to these people, folk proverbs about the rules of healthy nutrition have reached our time.
