Post-apocalyptic movies: is there life after the end of the world?

A gloomy picture of the collapse of civilization is enough, when humanity is on the verge of death from a global catastrophe, the post-apocalyptic films that have come into fashion from recent times.

Viruses are to blame for everything

To the chaos and destruction of all life principles can lead, in the opinion of the creators of such tapes, for example, epidemics that turn people into monsters. It is about such cataclysms in question in the third and fourth parts of the acclaimed franchise, in which Mila Jovovich shines, - "Resident Evil". A handful of survivors are desperately struggling with zombies and in the work of Oscar-winning Englishman Danny Boyle "28 days later". It's interesting that several alternative finals of the film were shot, differently deciding the fate of the hero, who was executed by Killian Murphy. The sequel of the film "28 weeks later" somewhat loses the prequel - perhaps because of the change of the director. The same idea (about a malignant virus, only replaced with an unsuccessful vaccine against cancer) was carried out by the authors in the thriller "I am a legend". The character of Will Smith and his faithful dog, it seems, are the only inhabitants of a huge chunk of the planet, yet they do not lose hope.

Very often they are hopelessly sad, these post-apocalyptic films. The list can be continued by "The Book of Eli" with Denzel Washington and the brilliantly performing bastard genius Harry Oldman. Or taped "The Road", where the father and son are looking for ways to save themselves (Viggo Mortensen plays brilliantly and continues to amaze young Cody Smith-McPhee with his works).

Religious things

Post-apocalyptic films can be far from masterpiece, such as "Eon Flux" or "Child of Man", but can carry a powerful emotional message. Such is the dystopia "Equilibrium", which shows the viewer the future "prosperous" society. His members are devoid of emotions, and therefore they have nothing to worry about. Wachowski's directors in the revolutionary "Matrix" went even further, forcing the worlds of their characters to believe in a simulation of life. Smart mechanisms have replaced reality in this way, sucking energy out of people who are in the likeness of sleep, which they take for real life. This order of existence is capable of destroying only a certain elected one, on which the insurgents who have escaped from the bonds of deceit rely. The iconic role of Keanu Reeves, the wonderful images created by Lawrence Fishburn and Kerry-Ann Moss. These post-apocalyptic films make you think, they awaken both the mind and the imagination.

Not so everything and sad

A somewhat absurd idea of the possibility of the seizure of power by highly organized mammals is conducted by Tim Burton in his "Planet of the Apes", which can also be classified as "post-apocalyptic films". Pretty fun looking at the world, captured by carnivorous zombies, the authors of the picture "Welcome to Zombilend." In this "black" comedy, the heroes of the talented and very talented artist Woody Harrelson and the beginning, but already proven from the very good side of Jesse Eisenberg, "glitter". Charming insidious sisters in the performance of Emma Stone and rapidly progressing from the role to the role of Abigail Breslin are charming. Although it is impossible to embrace the whole category of "post-apocalyptic films" with one article, the list of the best of them would be incomplete without mentioning the recent "Hunger Games" and "Oblivion."
