Pilgrimage service of the Moscow Patriarchate. Legal service of the Russian Orthodox Church

The Moscow Patriarchate is an Orthodox jurisdiction whose canonical territory lies within the borders of the Russian Federation, as well as in some other states. As a legal entity, it has its own structure, which allows it to function within the framework of civil legislation. This structure includes several departments, services and commissions. About two of them, namely about the pilgrimage and legal services, will be told in this article.

Activities of the Pilgrim Center

The mission of the service is to meet Russian and foreign tourists, familiarize them with the history of the Russian Orthodox Church, its shrines and monuments. Also the center accepts delegates of church cathedrals, held in the capital.

For example, the sacred places of the Balkan Peninsula, Greece, Turkey, Italy and, of course, the Holy Land, having special significance for the Orthodox.

Since the beginning of the 2000s, the pilgrimage service of the Moscow Patriarchate has been publishing the magazine "Orthodox Pilgrim", which contains articles about pilgrimage centers and other thematic materials. This center is headed by Hierodeacon Sergius (Turkeev).

Legal service of the Russian Orthodox Church

As for the legal support of the Orthodox Church, for this purpose the legal service of the Moscow Patriarchate is included in its structure. This structure is headed by the abbess Xenia (Chernega).

In the main, the department is engaged in explaining the legislative norms regarding the functioning of Orthodox parishes. Also in his charge are issues of taxation, property, land ownership, education and pensions. The materials of the service are published on the Internet and on the pages of the printed Orthodox organ "Parish".
