The future artist was born illegitimate. And although his parents soon married in the church, his father could not give the boy his surname. At first the child was called Basil Vasiliev - it was the surname of his godfather. But why did he become Perov? It turns out that this is a nickname. His teacher was given a letter to the boy, noting with this word zeal, the child's ability to own a pen for writing.

But Vasiliy was not only a diligent student. The boy was addicted to drawing from childhood. He liked to observe how the real artist draws, which the father of the child invited to their home.
