Monument "Flower of Life", history of origin, location

"Flower of Life" is one of the memorials of the memorial complex, which enters the famous Green Belt of Glory. It is located in the Leningrad region on the "Road of Life". In total there are 7 monuments, 102 commemorative pillars along the road (46 along the highway and 56 along the railroad tracks).

This monument is made in memory of the children who died during the terrible blockade of Leningrad. In its construction, along with adults, Leningrad children took part.

The monument was opened in 1968, on October 28. As part of this memorial: the monument "Flower of Life" (architect Melnikov P.), Alley of Friendship (architect Levenkov A.) and a mound called "Diary of Tanya Savicheva." The latter consists of eight stele, meaning the pages of the blockade diary (architects: Levenkov A., Fetisov G).

The petals of the "Flower of Life" depict the face of a smiling boy and a carved line: "Let there always be sunshine." On the plate next to it there is an inscription that says: "In the name of life and against war. Children - young heroes of Leningrad, 1941-1944 ". This memorial complex has a finish on which the international winter track-and-field marathon finishes annually.

"Road of Life": description of monuments

Three monuments have recently been restored: "Flower of Life", "Katyusha" and "Troika-1".

The main, most impressive of them - a beautiful monument "Flower of Life" - built on the third kilometer of the legendary "Road of Life". It is dedicated to the numerous children who died during the war during the siege of Leningrad.

The next monument, "Katyusha", is located on the 17th kilometer of the glorious "Road of Life". It symbolizes the famous military jet installation. It was built in 1966 on a small hill near the village of Kornevo, Leningrad region. It is dedicated to the anti-aircraft battery, which covered during the blockade the airfield in Uglovo and the whole saving way from the attacks of enemy aircraft.

The third memorial Troika-1 (1975) is located on the outskirts of the village of Vaganovo, Leningrad Region. It was built on the initiative and at the suggestion of the Council of Veterans, who served in the communications forces of the front of Leningrad. In this area during the war the communication point of this front was located. He connected the underwater cable (on the bottom of the lake) blockade Leningrad with a large land. The constant and uninterrupted work of this item ("Troika-1") was provided by the signalmen of the 376th battalion and the 26th division of the communications regiment.

Monument "Flower of Life", dedicated to children, began to build in August 1968. The name of the monument says that where there was death, despite everything, the youth won. The flower through the stones breaks through to the light and rushes upwards.

"Flower of Life" is located in the valley of the river Luppa, on the highest point. Thus, he affirms life, despite the difficulties and troubles. And next to the meadow near the monument are antitank sticks.

In 1971 a hill was erected near the flower with its stone slabs laid out on it. In the very center of one of them is carved the words of Tanya Savicheva from her famous diary.

The monument connects to the green hill with a beautiful Alley of Friendship. Trees are planted here by pioneers who came from all over the country to the 4th All-Union Pioneer Meeting (July 1970).

And the monument "Flower of Life" is simple and very symbolical. His photo is very impressive and touches the soul. It was built as a tribute to children who died during the war in the besieged Leningrad.

The children of that time experienced unbearable difficulties. Despite this, they continued to learn. Many of them helped adults: they were on duty with them on the roofs of houses, extinguished the "lighters".

Young residents of Leningrad participated in the defense of the city, went to the partisans. Despite the young age and not yet strengthened organism, the sense of duty was at their highest level.

Children were also the most valuable cargo of the famous "Road of Life". Senior schoolchildren helped adult teachers transport kids. The children were mostly evacuated in the legendary "lorry". It was especially dangerous in the winter, when the ice on Lake Ladoga could crack and break at any moment. However, despite everything, the evacuation of children did not stop. Now the only thing that reminds about that time, "Flower of Life" - a monument.

How to get there?

You can drive by car. For residents of the southern directions it is convenient to travel along the Murmansk highway to the settlement Near the pier via Rasmetelevo. Then on the right you can see a pointer to the village named after. Morozov. Through it, go straight to the equestrian club Hannibalovka.

Further, go to the signpost to the village of Kokkorevo (7 km.), Turn right. Go to the end, then to the right, and so to one of the monuments - "Broken Ring". When driving along the very shore of Lake Ladoga on the left there will be a shop where you need to turn to the right, and 100 meters from the shore you will find the settlement Near the pier.

The way by car from the northern part of St. Petersburg will be convenient through Vsevolozhsk right on the "Road of Life".

In Vsevolozhsk this road rises to the Rumbolovskaya Mountain. There you can make a stop on the observation deck, from where you can see a beautiful panorama of the city. On the way to the destination there will be villages: Proba, Irinovka, Borisova Griva, Vaganovo.

Thus, the road will lead to the monument "The Broken Ring". Then from it should turn to the right to the very village of Kokkorevo. Again after the store, turn right.

The method of travel by train is as follows: from Finland Station to the railway station "Vaganovo", then - by shuttle bus to Kokkorevo.

Travel by bus is also possible. We need to get to the railway station "Vsevolozhskaya", and then change to bus number 602.

"Flower of life" is a monument, where it is very exciting.

The leaves, painted with the weakened children's hand of eleven-year-old Tanya Savicheva, became the property of a terrible and touching story, a document that denounces fascism.
