Parks of Krasnodar: the most interesting places for recreation in the city

Krasnodar is one of the most beautiful and most cozy cities in the south of Russia. The fortress, founded by the Black Sea Cossacks by decree of Empress Catherine II in 1793, became an outpost of the southern gate of the Russian Empire. Ekaterinodar (literally "gift of Catherine") - the first name of the city, which lasted until 1920, when the Bolsheviks came to power. It was from this time on the decision of the People's Commissariat of Internal Affairs of the RSFSR, the city received its current name. One of the sights of the capital of the Kuban are the parks of Krasnodar. We'll talk about them today.

City garden

One of the oldest parks of the city is located on the southern outskirts of Krasnodar. It was founded in 1848 by the order of the governor of the Caucasus, Prince MS. Vorontsova. Since that time, thousands of cuttings of trees, bushes of roses and various flowers have been planted in the garden.

In 1932, the park was named after M. Gorky. Then a pond appears on the south side of the garden. Park "Sunny Island"

Park "Sunny Island" is located on one of the islands in the floodplain of the river Kuban. In 1959, on the site of the Gorzelentrest cattery, "Sunny Park" was established. Krasnodar has at its disposal another unique place for recreation of citizens.

In the park, in addition to the traditional set of entertainment (attractions for children and adults, a variety of cafes and concert venues), there is an opportunity for physical education and sports.
