Painting plates with their own hands

Painting plates - this is one of the oldest activities, which has survived in our days. Previously, such items were decorated with shelves in sideboards and walls. They were passed on from generation to generation. Today decorative plates are also relevant. They will become an excellent piece of the kitchen or dining room decor, and you can attract your children to the process of creating a masterpiece.

Features of technology

Painting plates - this is not such a simple matter. To receive this masterpiece, professionals pass special courses, which reveal all the subtleties of this skill. But absolutely everyone can learn it. You just need to take into account some of the nuances concerning such a process as painting plates.

The technique of drawing consists in the correct selection of tools and materials. The most important subject here are decorative plates. The painting can decorate products made of ceramics, porcelain, glass, wood. The main thing - they should not be a factory drawing.

You can create a pattern using the following tools:

  • Paints: silicate, water, acrylic. The latter are the most popular, since they are the most common, and even a child can work with them.
  • Felt-tip pens (special indelible).

Brushes often use thin ones. But everything depends on the picture. Sometimes you need a few types of brushes - from the most slender to lush.

In case you do not get a picture, you should have a liquid for washing away the paint.

Types of painting

Painting a plate is an art! There are many kinds of techniques:

  • Tiffany - allows you to achieve the effect of three-dimensional drawing.
  • Khokhloma is a rather famous painting. Patterns are made in black-red-gold colors.
  • Spot - the drawing is created using points.
  • Gzhel - simple lines, drops, mesh, flowers. Everything is done in blue tones on a white background.
  • Inscriptions are just words, phrases, lines and so on.
  • Geometric patterns - drawings consisting of different lines and shapes.
  • Whole composition (landscape, still life).

Of course, this is not all. There are also other types of paintings, most of which have come from ancient times. But we listed the most popular ones.

Operating procedure

Regardless of the complexity of the drawing, there is a generally accepted sequence of actions:

  1. The dish is painted off with oil or window cleaner.
  2. Apply a primer so that the paint is better adhered to the surface.
  3. A sketch of the drawing on plain paper is prepared.
  4. The pattern is transferred to the surface of the plate. How this happens depends on the technique of application and the style of the image.
  5. Attention is paid to detailing (for example, a contour is being drawn).
  6. The plate is dried for 24 hours in the open air or in the oven from 40 to 60 minutes.

Simple geometric pattern

Perhaps the easiest and fastest way to paint a plate is to use paints and paint tape. Thanks to simple manipulations, you can get a bright decor.

So, prepare the plate for the painting (clean it and degrease it). Then take a paint tape and glue strips on the surface. Where we have an adhesive tape, the plate will not be painted, take this into account. The picture can be varied. Usually zigzags are created in this way.

Now paint the entire plate with bright paint. For this work, you need to take a fluffy brush, as it will quickly cope with the task. Allow the paint to dry a little, and then remove the scotch. Now you can dry the plate.

Drawing with children fingers

It's a great idea to make a dish with the children. For this, you do not need to look for and create special images. You can simply perpetuate fingerprints of your child.

First prepare the surface of the plate. Then take a brown paint and draw a tree trunk and branches. Then take a regular sponge and smear its surface with any paint. Now gently touch the tips of your fingers to the washcloth, and then leave the imprint on the plates. Traces of fingers will serve as leaves.

By the way, this way you can collect the imprints of friends and relatives at a wedding for memory.

Silhouette and ornament

Simply and tastefully decorate the dishes will help to paint the plates. You can do this as follows:

  1. Prepare the plate for work.
  2. Take a thin brush and draw the silhouette of an animal (for example, a hare, a bear, a dog, and so on). Do not make the contour sharp, for this, paint a little dilute with water on the palette.
  3. Then take the thinnest brush and draw from the silhouette over a pair of arcs. Draw on them leaflets and flowers using lines or dots. For plants, choose contrasting colors.
  4. Dry the work.

In this simple way, you can create a whole series: on one plate there will be an image of a hare, on the other - foxes, on the third - a wolf and so on. The whole essence of the work lies in the simplicity of the lines and the play on the contrasts. With the help of small bright details, a playful mood is created, and the overall palette does not strain the eyesight.

Careless thoughtfulness

This kind of work looks like it's been spent on it for five minutes, and it's the result of someone's negligence. In fact, the presented painting of plates with colors is also a fruit of the applied effort and imagination. To work will require liquid paints, a brush, an old toothbrush and rubber gloves.

Dip a brush in a container of paint and bring it to the plate. Start placing chaotic drops on the prepared surface. Do not build a clear sequence - at first smooth and small, then - large with wavy edges. Let all the drops be uneven and different in size. Put them in different places. Here it is worth mentioning that the paint itself must drip from the brush, so dial it without regret.

Then dip your finger into the paint. Walk through the edges of the plate, making a rim. The old toothbrush will help finish the pattern. Blot it lightly into the paint, and then slide your finger along the bristles, pointing your "tool" to the plate. Dry the pattern.

Bitmap without a template

Drawings by dots are quite fascinating. And at the same time - a long and painstaking work. But the result is always worth the effort.

The dot painting of plates with acrylic paints can be performed using a template and without it. First consider the second option. It is used for simple patterns, and the first for more complex and intricate ones.

The bitmap assumes that the picture will not be drawn with the help of lines, but with points that are located next to each other. You can make such a painting with both paints and a brush with a pointed end, and markers.

To start, as always, you need to prepare the surface of the plate. Then the future drawing is thought through. For a basis it is possible to take any picture, but it is easier in this technique to carry out geometrical patterns. Then paint is applied to the palette or a piece of paper. Material is taken on the brush very carefully. Excess paint needs to be cleaned.

Then the magic begins. The brush needs to gently touch the surface of the plate. If you do not, you will get smears. And drawing in fact consists of points. Work should be done slowly, trying to get the drops to be the same in size. Thus, the whole pattern is applied. By the way, you need to work from the top down, so as not to accidentally oil the picture.

Depending on the idea, the points may be of different colors and diameters. But the picture should be understandable. Therefore, lines belonging to one element (for example, the core of the flower) are executed in the same shade and points of the same diameter.

Bitmap pattern

From the first time it may seem that making a painting on a template is very simple. In fact, this is not so. First, you must prepare this template. To do this, you can use ready-made pictures or make an illustration yourself. Since the bitmap does not imply a painting, the pattern on the paper is only contour (for example, the flower will be depicted only with the help of petals). By the way, in the case of a paper layout you can decorate only a transparent plate.

So, prepare the surface for work. Then cut the pattern along the outline. Now glue the paper to the back of the plate with a paint tape or tape. Prepare paints and brushes. Now you can start drawing. Set the points on top of the contour. Start working, as in the previous case, from above, so that the drawing does not get smeared.

When the work is ready, let the plate dry a little. Then gently remove the template. On request, the reverse side can be painted over, thereby giving the background a pattern.

A few more ideas

Painting cymbals with your own hands is an exciting activity. In the process of creating one craft, the idea for the next often arises.

Here are just a small part of the possible design of plates:

  • With the help of fine wavy lines, you can make not just patterns, but whole drawings. Just paint the inside of the silhouette not with solid strokes, but with curls.
  • From the plates you can collect words. Each saucer is one letter. Place it in the center. The space around the letter can be decorated with small patterns (for example, floral).
  • Original painting - face. It is enough just to draw eyes, a nose, a mouth and cheeks. The remaining part can be covered with some solid pattern.
  • Plant motifs are always relevant. Flowers and plants can be painted in various ways: filling the whole space of a plate or just a contour, smears, dots, solid color, strokes and so on.
  • You can also make a special painting for each holiday. For example, for the New Year there will be appropriate plates with snowmen, Christmas trees and Santa Claus, for Halloween - pumpkins, for Easter - painted eggs, Easter cakes, Easter bunnies, by March 8 - a branch of mimosa.
