History of character creation

Invented a brisk and harmful old woman, a wonderful children's writer and a great inventor Edward Uspensky. Artist Leonid Shvartsman, who worked on the image of a malignant old woman, for a long time puzzled over how she should look. He decided to build on the character's name. "Shapoklyak" - an ancient headdress, hailing from the XIX century. So, the old woman should dress in fashion of those years - in a dark outfit, decorated with cuffs and frill. On his head was a crumpled hat-hat. Since it is a harmful wimp, Shvartsman awarded her a long nose. The most interesting thing is that the mother-in-law of the artist was also from those distant years. He drew a character a bunch of gray hair, cheeks, like a mother-in-law and surprised eyes.
