Novosibirsk, Monument of Glory: photo, history, list of victims, address

Novosibirsk, the Monument of Glory - two inseparable concepts for Siberians. The design of the memorial ensemble "The feat of the Siberians in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945" began soon after the victory.

In the autumn of November 1967, the memorial complex was opened. The building was really monumental, the ensemble was erected as soon as possible - just a year and eight months! The Monument of Glory is beautiful (Novosibirsk). Photos of the city and the complex can be found in various newspapers, magazines, on websites, they are also in our article. In addition to this ensemble, there are other sights in the Siberian capital: opera and ballet theater, botanical garden, zoo, etc.

Monument of Glory (Novosibirsk): history

The construction of the memorial began at the end of the boulevard, which was at that time already about 50 years old. It has a rectangular shape, here is the Square of Celebrations, on the east side it is closed by five pylons of ten-meter height. It is no coincidence that the designers chose so many columns. Each tower is a year of terrible war. In general, the architects sought to fill the ensemble with symbolism. Each element of the memorial has a profound meaning. Sculptors used both sides of the pylons. One of them depicts scenes of hostilities and engraved the lines about the war, the other lists lists of dead Siberian soldiers. A total of 30 266 names of killed fighters. The designers tried and on the dais between the pylons installed four urns with the land brought from the places of bloody battles.

Behind the columns is an equally monumental statue - the image of a mourning mother, and in front of her is the grave of an unknown soldier and a bowl of Eternal Fire, which was lit from a metallurgical furnace from a plant named after V. P. Chkalov, who had worked in times of battles.

The square of Glory along the perimeter is surrounded by green plantations from shorn bushes and slender birches. If you walk along the boulevard, then they block the alley and the memorial from the city noise and fuss. During the walk you will be immersed in silence and silence. So sad and majestic is this place of sorrow.

Who created the Memorial of Glory

A gang of underage vandals led by a 20-year-old guy painted in colors of the Ukrainian flag "Katyusha." The perpetrators were caught and punished.

The pylons are illuminated by powerful soffits, which in the evening adds even more grandeur and monumentality.
