Nasal congestion in the cervical region

The causes of sharp, aching pain in the spine or neck area are different. In most cases, this is a pinched nerve or, in other words, a sudden clamping of the nerve branch by the intervertebral disc. Not only can the back become the site of an acute attack of pain, but cases of pinching of the nerve in the neck and lower back are common.

Pinching of the nerve in the cervical region can be accompanied not only by severe pain, but also by a gradual disruption of the work of some internal organs or numbness of the muscles of the body. Everything basically depends on what kind of nerve was jammed. If the sharp piercing pain does not give rest, then, most likely, the sensitive nerve was clamped, which should serve as the reason for an immediate visit to the doctor. It is more dangerous to squeeze motor or autonomic nerves, since pain does not appear immediately, but several times more affects the body.

Depending on where the nerve (in the neck, back or waist) was jammed, what functions the clamped nerve performs (that is, whether it is sensitive, motor or autonomic), and what the reason for pinching the nerve is, different symptoms appear.

If the pinching of the nerve in the cervical region is accompanied by burning, stitching, shooting, paroxysmal or permanent pain, then, of course, these are symptoms of pinching the sensory nerve.

If the nerve is trapped in the lumbar region, then the nature of the pain is slightly different. In this case, the painful lumbago resembles a aching, constant, often one-sided pain that quickly passes into the buttocks, thighs or legs, thereby causing sciatica or sciatica. There may also be numbness and heaviness in the leg area.

The pinching of the nerve in the neck is accompanied by pain during movements of the head or neck. After all, cervicalgia or neck pain quite often passes into the area of the forearm, shoulder or under the shoulder blade. It causes the patient to endure intolerable pain, accompanied by irritation from the inability to easily move the neck joints of the head. Pinching of the nerve in the cervical region can also lead to a disruption in the blood supply to the brain, which can be detected with dizziness, hearing or visual impairment, and pressure jumps.

If in recent times the vertebra has been displaced or a dislocation is detected, accompanied by sharp pain in the shoulder area, it is possible to pinch the nerve in the shoulder joint and cause inconvenience.

The pinching of the autonomic nerves is mainly accompanied by internal pain. This means that if the nerve was clamped in the chest area, then the pain in the heart or in the lungs becomes a clear symptom. Clamping the vegetative nerve in the lumbar region will be accompanied by pain in the stomach, which will disturb the appetite and affect the performance.

If at least one of the above symptoms is familiar to you, then you should immediately go for advice to a doctor. Treatment should be carried out individually, since pinching of the nerve in the cervical or lower back can be caused by various reasons.

The most common cause of pinching of the nerve in the lumbar region is osteochondrosis, a disease that occurs due to a decrease in the height of the gap between the vertebrae, which leads to the clamping of the bodies with vertebrae. With this disease, the prolapse and protrusion of the disc may occur, in other words, the appearance of a hernia, which also leads to the clamping of the sensory nerves. In such cases, the doctor will appoint a complex massage to the patient. It will relax the muscles of the back, eliminate the muscle spasm, the pain caused by it, and restore the blood supply and passage of nerve impulses, which will be an indispensable prevention of osteochondrosis.

Do not resort to self-medication and do not use the services of unarmed masseurs, because the wrong procedure can lead to serious consequences.
