Medal "30 years of the Soviet Army and Navy". The history of the award.

The medal "30 Years of the Soviet Army and Navy" is well known especially to domestic falerists. The value of this award can not be estimated only in direct monetary terms. Its significance has a completely different meaning. He can be understood only by someone who has lived in this country for a long time and has felt the whole burden of wartime. Only people born in the Soviet Union can understand that sense of pride for the greatness and strength of their army that our citizens have.

A bit of history

Victory in the war of 1941-1945 was not easy for our people. Many soldiers remained on the battlefield. And those who returned were considered real heroes. By tradition, our state has always tried to somehow distinguish people for their outstanding services. In this case, the victory was done by everyone, without exception. Therefore, in February 1948, the Presidium of the USSR Supreme Armed Forces established a special medal "30 years of the Soviet Army and Navy".

This was a recognition of special heroism and selflessness in a difficult time for the country. The government decided to remind people that they were the ones who defended themselves in a long, bloody struggle. The medal "30 years of the Soviet Army and Navy" was a recognition of the enormous contribution that the soldiers made to the common victory over the enemy. After the awards for specific military merits, it became almost the first of those that were awarded in peacetime. This reminded the soldiers of their great feat. Of course, the heroism displayed in a separate battle is worthy of respect. But the essence of this award was to show everyone, the surviving soldiers, how much the whole people appreciate what they did. A special honor to award the medal "30 years of the Soviet Army and Navy" was given to the heads of the relevant institutions and commanders of military units. Usually this happened at the place of their immediate service. In the event that a citizen descended to another locality, this honorable duty was transferred to the head of the commissariat at the place of residence.

List of worthy

All details regarding this award were set out in a separate Regulation, approved by the same Decree. In accordance with it, a list of persons was determined for its delivery. According to estimates made later in January 1995, such worthy ones turned out to be just under four million. By the decision of the Supreme Council, the jubilee medal "30 years of the Soviet Army and Navy" was given to virtually everyone who, as of February 23 of the same year, was staffed by the Armed Forces, as well as by the MGB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of our country.

Certain rules for awarding were established. First issued an order for the organization or the military unit. A list was attached to it separately. The medal was given to soldiers of all ranks in the presence of the entire collective on behalf of the Supreme Council of the country. About this fact in the personal file of the award was made a special mark. After the death of a citizen, the medal was to be returned to the state. But in 1951, the Decree of 5 February was amended accordingly, which allowed the families of the deceased to keep this award for their memory.

Detailed description

Now many Falerists in the collection have a medal "30 years of the Soviet Army and Navy". Photo reward allows you to better view it from all sides. In addition, it is easier to see some of the features that are allowed during casting. The medal is a round shaped workpiece having an outer diameter of 32 millimeters, and made of brass. On the obverse side there is a relief image of the two most important personalities of the state: Lenin and Stalin. Below them - the inscription "ХХХ", denoting the digital value of the anniversary. On the back, at the very bottom is a five-pointed star.

Further on a circle - the inscription made in capital letters, on which the purpose of creation of a product is specified. In the center there are two more inscriptions: the name of the armed forces of the country, as well as the time period "1918 - 1948", located in three lines. A small edge is made along the edge. On top of the workpiece is a round eyelet, with which it is attached to a pentagonal shoe in the form of a festive red and white ribbon. To wear such a reward should be on the chest on the left side. If a person has other jubilee medals, then they should be arranged in order of priority.

Unique Features

During the manufacture, two versions of this award were made. The difference lies in the ears casting. In one case, it is flat and evenly drained. In the second, the fastener is also solid-stamped, but already round and convex. A little later, it began marking the mint of Leningrad "LMD". In addition, at the presentation of the medal a certificate is required. It was manufactured three times and each time when printing, certain corrections were made:

1. The front side of the medal, depicted on the left side, had a black and white coloring, and in the text at the place of the issue date, the figures "194" were pre-printed.
2. The image of the award became colored.
3. The text on the right is changed again. In the year of issue, the figures were replaced by "19".

Such a reward is estimated by the Falerists at auction not more than $ 10 if documents are available. It is clear that it is impossible to enrich by such an acquisition. Therefore, some collectors buy for themselves dummies. In principle, this is the same medal "30 years of the Soviet Army and Navy." The copy differs from the original only in the composition of the pad and the lack of accompanying documents.

For the production of casts a material made of synthetic silk is used, which is a fairly high-quality copy of the original tape. It is often sold in the form of blanks length of 15 centimeters to 110 rubles. If a person collects awards only for studying the history of the country, then for him it does not really matter.
