The main story of the television series and the main characters
The series tells about the life of the city of Santa Barbara. The main characters are the family of the wealthy Capwells, who gathered a lot of skeletons in the closet. All the other heroes, regardless of social status, somehow, are connected with the almighty Capwells.
At the head of the family is CC Capwell. He is a rich tycoon who loves his family and is able to do a great deal for her sake. He was married several times and has many children. At the time of the series, five are known: Chening, Mason, Ted, Eden and Kelly. Later, as the plot develops, their number changes. Despite a lot of love intrigues, the head of the family still returns to his wife named Sofia.
Also, CC Capwell was married to Gina - the main negative heroine, who dreams of getting rich by any means. In the first few seasons it was she who was the source of most of the problems not only of the Capwells, but of the entire city. But later there were other negative characters.
The main love line of the television series almost from the outset was the story of Eden Capwell and Detective Cruise Castillo. They quarreled, reconciled, divorced, got married, lost and were. Eventually, because the actress left the project, her character was sent to Europe and disappeared from the television series.
Sister Eden - Kelly Capwell, constantly falling into all sorts of trouble, could be called a record holder for the number of love relationships. Unfortunately, in most cases, her passions proved unworthy of the girl's love.
But Mason Capwell, played by Lane Davis, enjoyed a special love of the audience. Despite the irrepressible nature and a large number of women, he had the most beautiful love stories in the television series.
Who is Mason Capwell? Character Biography
Mason is the eldest son of CC Capwell. His mother, Pamela Pepperidge, was the first wife of CC, but they did not part the best way. Moreover, the young Mason was forbidden to communicate with his mother, because of this, he developed a rather tense relationship with his father.
Despite problems in the family, the boy graduated from Harvard and received a specialty in law. He was predicted by the politician's career, but he deliberately refused, than he greatly angered his father. Pretty soon, he established himself as an excellent lawyer and during the series not only worked in private companies, but also managed to visit the district attorney of Santa Barbara.
For the whole project, this hero has managed to endure a lot: he was tortured, kidnapped, he had a split personality and failures in his memory, moreover, his beloved woman died in his arms. Despite this, he continued to cope with all the problems.
Character of the character
Unlike the rest of the Capwells, Mason is the most ambiguous. From him one can expect everyone, since he is able to perform both good and bad deeds. In many ways he is like his father, but more sensual, noble and secretive. Throughout the series has problems with alcohol. However, later he manages to cope with this dependence.
Also, the bright features of this character is that he is inventive, witty, very smart, unlike many of his relatives. He often quotes classics and is rather sarcastic, but he jokes well.
Mason's novels
Being an interesting man, Mason Capwell is a success with women, but he does not always manage to be with his beloved. Once he was in love with Santana. But the girl did not respond to his feelings, choosing his brother. After a while, these feelings pass without a trace.
Catching fleeting novels, then with the secretary, then with the others, Mason unexpectedly starts to like Gina - the mercantile wife of her father. At first, she just likes a man, but soon he sincerely falls in love with her. The girl reciprocates and leaves for the sake of him from the monastery. But lovers are not meant to be together. First, Mary marries another, and then, having decided to return to Mason, becomes a victim of an accident. This is one of the most tragic moments of the television series.
Hardly experiencing the loss of his beloved, Mason drinks, travels, seeks himself and even becomes a member of the religious community. Time passes, and Mason Capwell again becomes himself.
Wives of Mason
Returning to the familiar life, Mason soon gets an offer from her cute colleague Julia Wainwright to become the father of her child. Despite the rather complicated relationship in the past, Mason agrees, and this is the beginning of a new and wonderful relationship. Meeting and spending time with each other, lawyers fall in love, and soon Julia is pregnant.
However, they are not to be married, because the happiness of Mason's sister Eden is in trouble. Because of the unfortunate circumstances, the former passion of beloved Eden - Victoria Lane - expects a child from him. To save the relationship of her sister and her lover, Mason concludes a contract with Victoria. He marries her and recognizes her child, in return she should not disclose to anyone the truth about the true father of the baby.
Marrying Victoria, Mason Capwell continues to love Julia. Their relationship becomes strong, despite all the obstacles. For the whole series Mason manages to marry her twice.

Children of Mason
In the marriage with Victoria, Mason soon had a son named Chip (Channing Capwell III). As it was agreed, the man recognized him as his own and helped him grow it for a long time.
At the same time, Julia Wainwright is pregnant with Mason, but for a long time she hides it from him. Even when married to Victoria, the man learns the truth, and although he can not divorce, she still helps Julia take care of their daughter Samante Eden. Later, after marrying Julia, he adopts the baby.
After a series of vicissitudes, alcoholism, problems with the psyche and marriage with the former stepmother Gina Mason finally reunites with Julia, and together they adopt another child. And later, Julia is again pregnant. However, at the time of the end of the series and it is not known who they will be born.
It is worth noting that the lover of Mason Mary, also waited for the child, and, in all likelihood, it was Mason who was the father of the baby. However, the girl died tragically along with the unborn baby.
Lane Davis is an actor who played Mason Capwell
Throughout the nine years of this character, four actors have played: Lane Davis, Terry Leicester, Gordon Thomson and the young Leonardo DiCaprio (Mason Capwell as a child). However, the most popular and beloved audience was the first performer of this role - Lane Davis, who is primarily an actor of the theater. From his childhood he was associated with the theater, since his mother often played in it. You can say that the guy grew up behind the scenes. After growing up, he decided to follow in her footsteps and became an actor.
Educated at the University of Tennessee, Lane began to play in amateur productions and musicals. Thanks to his pleasant voice and bright appearance, he was soon noticed and began to be shot at the cinema. So, in 1977 he played a pilot in the episode of "Star Wars", and after that he took part in several more films.
In the early eighties, he was invited to play the legendary soap opera Days of Our Life. However, he worked there only a year, after which he left for the new series - "Santa Barbara", where he was given the role of one of the central characters named Mason Capwell. The actor perfectly coped with the task, creating an incredibly complex and multifaceted image on the screen.
Playing "Santa Barbara", Lane continued to act in films, and also did not leave the theater. Every year he took a two-month vacation and went to play in his favorite plays Shakespeare. To somehow hide the absence of one of the main characters, the writers were constantly forced to invent various tricks with abductions, imaginary death and other things.
After working in the Santa Barbara project for five years, Lane was tired of him and left. Remove his hero did not dare, so instead of Davis took another actor, but neither he nor the next performer, who was enticed from the "Dynasty", could not fully replace Lane. After "Santa Barbara" the actor took a lot of acting and played in the theater. He also married and became the father of two wonderful children. About his role Mason recalls with reluctance, since he does not consider this a serious achievement. Moreover, in an interview, Davis complained that he had to learn a few dozen pages of text for each series, as his character was very talkative.
DiCaprio as Mason Capwell in his youth
Along with older actors, Mason also played a child. They were the world-famous now Leonardo DiCaprio. Successfully debuting on television rather early, Leonardo flashed, and he was often invited to various roles. This was promoted, first of all, by the angelic appearance of the boy.
Already the third big role of the actor was the hero of the series "Santa Barbara" - Mason Capwell (in his childhood). The game of young talent allowed viewers to observe in as many as five episodes of the television series (in the interval from 1429 to 1596 series). It is worth noting that the young Mason Capwell very much liked the audience, which could not but affect positively on the future career of Leonardo. So, after filming in "Santa Barbara" DiCaprio finally made his way to the world of serious cinema.
At first they were small roles. But soon the boy's talent was appreciated. Before the famous "Titanic" Leonardo managed to play a few fairly serious roles. This is the young French writer Arthur Rambo, and the cowboy-beloved Sharon Stone in the film The Quick And The Dead, and, of course, the light-eyed Romeo in the modern production of Romeo + Juliet.
And then came the "Titanic", after which Leonardo was invited only to the main roles that brought him all the most prestigious awards of the world of cinema. Interestingly, DiCaprio along with "Oscar", "Golden Globe" and other coveted for any actor's awards is the owner and "Golden Raspberry" for his role in the film "Iron Mask".
In his spare time, this handsome man actively participates in public life, in particular he fights for the cleanliness of the environment, for which he was nominated for the Crystal Award.
As for his personal life, unlike Mason Capwell, Leonardo was not married yet, although he had several serious novels.
The television series "Santa Barbara" has become a cult for CIS viewers. Moreover, the very name of this show from its own name has turned into a household name.
However, it is worth noting that, in spite of a whole galaxy of fine actors starring in this soap opera, the main merit of this is the beautiful actor's work of Lane Davis, who played Mason Capwell. It was after his departure that the series gradually began to lose popularity and was soon closed. And although the actor himself is skeptical about his character, in the hearts of millions of viewers Mason Capwell will remain the same as he was played by Lane Davis.
